That's because your eyesight has already deteriorated from staring at it to much.

But I'll have to agree with you. It seems les bright white (no longer full FFFFFF white)

I am assuming that you are just giving me a hard time without intending any malice ...

Ignoring what my background may be in computers ... I know bad web design when I see it, or in this case, when I **** near go blind looking at it.

Or I could have been just getting an idea of your knowledge base on web design as I'm in the middle of a project.

I guess I must apologize for jumping to conclusions. Sometimes calculating the ratio of sarcasm/flame vs serious intent/information gathering can be very difficult, not to mention determining true tone.

I am actually far older than most participants on this forum. I have a masters and PhD in both Mathematics and Computer Science. I have worked in some form of technology/computer field for more than 50 years. I actually worked with and on computers with vacuum tubes. If memory serves (and lately that is questionable), the first computer I worked on was a 1946 Eniac.

As for doing web design, I do have experience with php, java, javascript, html, html5, css, xml, etc. But to be fair, it is not extensive, and I have only utilized it to putz around and web enable cobbled solutions for various endeavors I am tinkering with.

Mostly these days I just play poker.

I like it now that they've darkened it a bit since yesterday.

I still wish they darkened the forum overview page a bit though, it still has a pure white background.

Oh, and I actually AM a front-end web developer.

It wasn't just the white background, but also the typeface and spacing of the text - it just made for an uncomfortable user experience for many people (myself included). Comparing the design here to that of Apple and Facebook isn't a fair comparison.

Indirectly yes it deals with X-Wing but mostly all hobby board games. PM me if you want more details beyond that as I'm not ready for a public announcement.
