Imperials Vs Fat Han Build

By DarkTrooper66, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hey guys,

I will be playing a Fat Han list pretty soon (Typical load out with 3x Bandits) and I'm trying to put together a decent Imperial counter squad.

My initial thoughts are…

Krassis Trelix (46)

Firespray-31 (36), Heavy Laser Cannon (7), Rebel Captive (3)

“Howlrunner” (18)

Academy Pilot (12) x 3

Possibly switching out Howlrunner for Backstabber.

I've yet to play a Fat Han list so please critique away :)

Thanks in advance!

Im no expert but i'm assuming you'll assume he'll always shoot first so you're going to be soaking up fire from the start.

would a good plan not be to be fairly heavy on the hit points yourself so you can slug it out.

I'm thinking multiple firesprays? I've usually seen it singled out really quickly when only one appears in a list and then you're potentitally losing a tie a turn from the falcon (thats without not even factoring the escort)

I've played a 'fat han' once or twice and i've had 50/50 success with royal guard interceptors with PTL and shiled upgrades and or stealth/hull upgrades... i think once 'autothrusters' are legal I'd run stealth upgrade and autothrusters on them.

Are you playing 'tourny legal' or friendly where you can proxy

If you can proxy

i'd field.

3 X Royal Guard with PTL, Stealth and Autothrusters, you'll pretty much always be out of arc and hard to hit but hitting back with a reasonable amount of red die.

Obviously the above is only 90 points so you can add better pilots to taste or drop PTL on one and put in a token academy?

two firesprays and soontir have the combined firepower and mobility to run right over most fat han builds

the catch is that you have to be very good at positioning the firesprays so you don't kill poor soontir with really stupid mistakes

With falcons getting more attacks per turn is key, he'll get one evade token and c3p0 can be used once power turn, any additional attacks will most likely be against a single unmodified green die

my counter list would be

decimator patrol leader

fire spray bounty hunter - rebel captive

shuttle fleet commander( pass focus to friendly ships within range 1-2 one stress )

reason this is a counter list is decimator has turret firespray has two fire arcs front and back, and all three ships have three attack dice. firespray can evade as needed and decimator can target lock while both ships are getting focus from shuttle played this list against double falcon (lando and chewie) fat dash/ horn, and 7 ship imperial swarm it owned them all . the reason it owned them all is I am forcing the opponent to roll well to chew through my 36 hull and shield all the while I am throwing 9 to 12 attack dice at them .

If Phantoms / PTL users dont worry you, Recon Specialist might be better bang for the buck on the Firespray instead of Captive.

Thanks for the input guys, really like that list guthrie76, very tanky!

I'm thinking of swapping out the Firespray for a couple of Royal Interceptors as recommended by Gadge.

We play a few games a session so not sure what else I might face besides the Fat Han. So I'm looking to put together a pretty solid Imperial list.

Messing around with...

Royal Guard Pilot (30) x 2

TIE Interceptor (22), Push the Limit (3), Royal Guard TIE (0), Hull Upgrade (3), Targeting Computer (2)

Academy Pilot (12) x 2

Backstabber (16)

I keep changing my mind on this one…

Current thoughts are now

Soontir Fel (35)

TIE Interceptor (27), Royal Guard TIE (0), Push the Limit (3), Targeting Computer (2), Hull Upgrade (3)

Carnor Jax (34)

TIE Interceptor (26), Push the Limit (3), Royal Guard TIE (0), Targeting Computer (2), Hull Upgrade (3)

Dark Curse (19)

TIE Fighter (16), Stealth Device (3)

Academy Pilot (12)

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Cheers!

I thought the recon would also be better until I play tested it with the shuttle giving focus all the bounty hunter had to do was target lock or evade as needed and the decimator is getting focus and target lock every time so major damage output.
