I would also say wave 2. I was just getting into the game. ordinance were still playable competitively. X-wings were good.
When was your X-wing Golden Age?
As a lot of people, just before wave 4, where there was a lot of variety in lists. Now if you go to a tournament you only see Decimator + Whisper, or Fat Han/ Superdash with two or three ships supporting, or even lists with two falcons.
For example now is very strange to see X-wings in competitive lists, and when autothrusters are for sale, even less (not until FFG develops a Title wich give X-wings the boost action)
If FFG want to make the game go back to a skirmish dogfight game, and not the "Turret Wing" that is almost know, I would do a few things:
- Ships defending against a ship firing outside the firing arc, get 2 more green dices, and of course no autothrusters.
- Phantom, 3 attack dice, which I think is more fair.
- When attacking with gunner, or whatever abilitie that allows to attack again after a failed attack, roll 1 less attack dice
What do you think?
I hope Wave 6 brings more variety again

I loved the game and really enjoy it. There are many things like the miniatures, simplicity of flow and mechanics without hurting good strategy and tactics.
But! There are just a few things that moved it from the golden age.
- I'll start with the least of them, being in your in range 1 to yourself. I know this fixes somethings but...
- For me another issue is the use of 'you may'. Now on some cards there isn't a cost for the benefit because of 'you may'.
- Nested Actions is the biggest. Simple things just got very complex and overwhelming by casual or non-gamer types. I could take this to Thursday board games no problem, but if I pulled that move out people say, 'let's get back to Ticket to Ride at least I can follow the moves'.
I know some of these may be RAW interpretations and I won't debate the value here.
Just staying On-Topic, for me at least, these have ramped up the complexity in a way that isn't truly beneficial outside of tournaments. And before you suggest it... playing with my own personal different set of rules than everyone else wouldn't be a 'golden age' solution either. ![]()
[Edited] P.S. I still love the game but the golden age was before that.

This has always been true.

I'm not sure which cards you're talking about, here, but I can't think of an example where paying a cost is optional.

But those are corner cases, not likely to come up even in tournament play: how many people are running Tycho + Push the Limit + Expert Handling + Experimental Interface?
I started just after wave 4 came out. So there was still variety in lists before it was dominated by the super phantom and the response to the super phantom, the fat turret. You saw a lot more firesprays and interceptors and XXBB and Lambdas and swarms and such. Right now in my area most lists are fat turret lists.
And it's all because of how overpowered the super phantom is.
So yeah, right at the start of wave 4 when there was still some variety in lists. I miss Interceptors dodging my arcs.

I was referring to the ruling about R7-T1. Also withe Accuracy Corrector coming out that might need an FAQ as soon as it's released.

Actually I was thinking about the Ocium double or triple tap.
Oicunn overlaps dealing 1 damage
Triggering Dauntless #1 gives a free action - But the stress isn't until the action is complete?
Free Action Daredevil move - But the stress isn't until the action is complete?
Causing overlap and dealing another damage
Triggering Dauntless #2 gives a free action - But the stress isn't until the action is complete?
Free Action Focus or something else
Stress 1 from Dauntless #2
Stress 2 from Daredevil
Stress 3 from Dauntless #1
Just for thought... and yes they may be rare for now, but FFG is far from finished releasing new shinys. There was one other that for some reason escapes me.
My Golden Age started Christmas before last when my in-laws bought me a core set and an A-wing and my father-in-law and I played it for the first time, then through several casual games, a few scenario epic games, the Imdaar-Alpha event, Canadian Nationals, several casual weekly tournaments, and a couple store championships up until oh say... now.
Edited by mlbrogueoneI only started playing in December, so... Right now? Going to my first store "open play" in about a month.
When my cities have enough happiness. ![]()
More seriously, now is the golden age.
Wave four onwards because I got my defenders ![]()
Before the announcement of wave 6. Haven't spent a single dime on this game since then.

I gotta ask, why don't you want anything from wave 6?
It simply doesn't interest me.

He's still upset he was wrong about there ever being a third faction.
This game was at its most magical while I was still waiting for ships that were in the movies. That being said, it continues to be a great game, as now I'm curious how these ships will change and grow. I'm also loving how my favorite video game EU stuff is being brought in!

Thank goodness for Scum. They definitely needed to do something to shake up the meta.
