What do West Coast Shipping Delays mean for us in Europe?

By Mward1984, in Star Wars: Armada

Pretty much what the title says, as someone eagerly awaiting Armada and S&V, I'd like to know how (if at all) the current dockyard strike would affect us?

We know there was at least one copy of the coreset already in Germany for the Essen trade show, does this mean like Imperial Assault were going to be looking to get the game much earlier than in the US? Or would the EU release be delayed for a concurrent release?

If released seperately, does this mean that there will be two release articles? One for europe and another for the US? Or just the one for the US like we had for Imperial Assault?

Obviously we all understand this isn't what in an ideal world FFG would want to do, but I think we also all understand that events are largely out of FFG control right now.

I would just like some sort of clarity into this issue on these topics.

Thanks.

I hope they release elsewhere even if the US isn't ready to release, but I don't know if they will. That way I can watch and live vicariously as you all put up your unboxing videos for us!

Being in the US myself, it would stink to be the last to get it, but I would rather that happen than have ready copies sitting around in other countries waiting for us.

They will likely release in Europe when the stock is ready in Europe. It is better to have half the release revenue than none at all. After all the USA isn't the only market / releasing on different dates won't decrease sales.

Plus I assume their contracts have penalties for late delivery, which exclude labour unrest / things out of FFG's control. Since the strike is in USA and not Europe, that portion of the contract won't apply and they will ship.

Depends if all the stock has to go to the USA head office first for allocation and shipping to other global destinations.

Given the Imperial Assault experience, I would imagine that it'll release in Europe (and elsewhere, such as Australia and New Zealand) when it can. I don't think they'll place an embargo just because of our West Coast troubles.

It really depends on how the distribution network is run.

if 100% the stock heads east from China into the US, then distributed from there.....we're doomed.

If on the other hand some goes to Europe and some goes to the US, we have a chance.

I'm erring on the side of "doomed" for now so that i'm not disappointed later....

What it means depends on what kind of freedom the contract with the licenced distributers... Up until Imperial Assault the the experience was that they would wait until FFG made official release. Given the unusual circumstance of this delay, they might just give a go ahead before the US release (too bad I preordered the english versions)

AFAI understand it, both the French and German localized versions don't go through the US, but straight to the licenced distributers from the manufacturing in China. Any other way is simply not the economical due to the added cost of transportation (it's cheaper to go west through Suez into the meditarantian than to go East and through Panama and across the Atlantic) and fees on buisness improrts from US to the Euro countries

Presumably they can deliver to EU independantly of the US due to the merger with Asmodee in November?

Presumably they can deliver to EU independantly of the US due to the merger with Asmodee in November?

Do you think that the logistics would have been merged this quickly? It seems to me like that kind of integration would take a bit longer to put together.

i do hope that they did sent the english version sold to european retailers directly to europe as well :).

i would also like to press the disklike button on the last post of the "Its on the boat" thread, but there is none. As shown on the main news page the product discussed in this forums is not in vacuum. Release dates are the main product related interest of the consumer atm. and they are directly influenced by a political topic.

I have the impression that the just shut your eyes and do the "happy, happy, consume, $$$, i dont care" dance which seems to be underlined by closing topics which are not directly profit increase related did create some problems in the first place.
