Imo, Predator > PTL on Decimators

This is largely because focus is almost absolutely worthless on Chiraneau, and you don't want to limit yourself to green maneuvers the turn after.

Makes sense. I was thinking of a more limited use, though. Use it with the evade from Isaard to boost out of arcs before combat. Not necessarily using it every turn, that way I am not too dependant on PTL.

Hmm, it's not a bad idea but would leave the Decimator extremely vulnerable to crits such as Damaged Sensor Array, Damaged Engine, Minor Hull Breach or any combination of those. And with how much hull the ship has, its chances of drawing one of those crits increases greatly compared to others.

On Chiraneau, I like Determination, Predator, or maybe even VI. If you go for Determination or VI, you could throw a Proximity Mine on both ships or put a Proton Bomb on one of them (which can be nasty if timed correctly).

If you're planning on using this in a tournament and it happens to be after S&V hit the shelf, a Mangler Cannon on the Firespray could work wonders for you.

I wouldn't be worried about crits on PTL decimators so much as table space

Remember, the decimator's only greens are 2 straight + bank and 3 straight. With a boost you're making a maximum 90 degree turn on a ship that can't k-turn. Now, of course, the turret goes a long way towards making maneuvering concerns of any type a complete and utter wash, but when you're bobbing and weaving that fat arse away from those 2-3 B-wings, around obstructions, and with the table edge coming up fast...yeah you're going to start missing those speed 1s or your hard turn + boost.

Now PTL can be used sparingly, sure, but the flip side is that predator can be used every turn without limiting movement and it can even let you chance asteroids (good ole chiry still gets the re-roll(s) and ability!), so that you can given even less of a **** about maneuvering .

You do lose out on the occasional bumper car --> boost trick, but realistically you're pulling that off once per game before the enemy gets on your tail. You also won't be able to dodge Whisper, but you're a turret with Rebel Captive so why would you really give a **** ?

Wouldn't you be better off with 35 points of Soontir, instead of the BH?

He is both harder to take down, hits harder (dual actions + mobility) and has higher PS.

Yeah, pretty much everyone uses large turreted ships around me. I have tried to find a non meta list that I like, but nothing that is very fun. Besides my green dice suck.

That'd be up to you really. Chimmy is susceptible to blocking since he's ps8, but he has a built in mini focus so he performs ok without his action.... but he'd do better with TL + his ability.

Bomb is likely to be more useful when scum lists show up, the 2 list ship lists are likely going to go down.

I'm sort of leaning towards the title. Just in case you aren't aware, it is possible to do a green move, bump, do the action, THEN remove the stress from the title. But it also means you can't use the title if you are currently stressed.

Moff is the right choice. I've certainly list important games due to bad crits on a PTL Deci. Moff coulda saved quite a few games!

As for the PTL vs Predator argument, if you play with PTL for a while, you might end up finding some of the same things that other players have found, like mentioned above. However, the combo is cool enough that it is worth playing for those really neat games where something great happens..

Though I think I like the PTL + Ysanne combo slightly more on Kenkirk. Kenkirk likes getting into Range 3 to get 2 Green dice for defense, and a stressed and boosting ship will have a tendency to sit at long range.

Good point, I had not thought of the PS implications. What about the Dauntless title instead of the bomb?

Dauntless is meh. I think your list is just fine (including Moff Jerjarod) if you move the seismics to chiraneau. BH with recon is a solid ship for 36 pts, and Chiraneau will be a PITA for most opponents.

Because I want to stay away from that particular bit of cliche and do something different. I also figure everyone is going to be designing lists with Phantom counters now. This is my attempt at a twist on the current meta list. I also like the idea of having all those hit point in time limited games. I know when I see two large ships across the table there is a little bit of intimidation factor of having to eat through all those hit points.

That is certainly true but it could help make the Bounty Hunter a nasty blocker against some of those higher PS ships.

I have played a few games and really like how the list flies. The Decimator is really fast with the Engine Upgrade, and RAC really does not have to have his actions for offense, so can use it whenever he needs to. Won all 3 games, only losing the Firespray in one of them. I have had a couple ideas to tweak the list:

Replace the Recon Specialist with either:

-Tactician, upgrading the bomb to Proximity MIne.

-Mara Jade

Also thought of moving the bomb to the Decimator.

I think the list is interesting, I'd just worry about how it fights other lists with good jousting. While 2 big ships are meaty and will scare some lists, you have no flanker so something like the Rexler + Krassis list I fly with dual hlc might be able to burn through your hp pretty quickly.

I like the list, I'd just say be careful fighting other jousting lists, especially ones that don't care about range 3 because of hlc.

I also like the original list the best of all the suggestions here. Except I don't think mangler is worth 4 pts on a firespray. I would spend the last 4 pts on Moff Jerjarod & seismics on Chiraneau. Solid.

Never underestimate the value of a crit.

I kind of wonder if I should put Vader on the Deci instead of the Moff, for those super soontirs that might be showing up.

I'd only put Vader on Patrol Leader making it a "Doom Decimator"

PL+RC+DV=46 points - still a bit costly IMHO.
