100 pt challenge

By GrossRouge, in Star Wars: Armada

So while fiddling around with 300 pt lists with Fab’s Fleet Generator ( http://fabpsb.free.fr/armada_beta/ ), it seemed to have randomly glitched (ok, lets be honest, I probably clicked something wrong), and produced me two ( a rebel and imperial) random 100pt list, now they were both pretty bad. But it got me thinking, even though a standard game is 300pts, that it might be fun to run a single ship 100 pt list.

Now im not sure how well balanced a 100pts will be. But just for shts and giggles while we wait for armadas imminent release. lets see what 100 pt list you would field.

Now when building mine I used the arbitrary limitations of it must contain 1 ship, but does not need to contain a commander (as compared to the standard rules as we know it) as they are not very point efficient at 100 pts.

To get started I came up with (within our current knowledge or release) the following 2 list;

Rebels

Nebulon-B Escort Frigate - Nebulon-B Frigate (Total: 67)

XX-9 Turbolasers (5)

Yavaris (5)

Luke Skywalker X-wing Squadron - X-wing (Total: 20)

X-wing Squadron - X-wing (Total: 13)

Total: 100pt

Imperials

Gladiator II-class Star Destroyer - Gladiator-class Star Destroyer (Total: 62)

Sensor Team (5)

'Howlrunner'' TIE Fighter Squadron - TIE Fighter (Total: 16)

TIE Fighter Squadron - TIE Fighter (Total: 8)

TIE Fighter Squadron - TIE Fighter (Total: 8)

Total: 100pt

Looks like a great lunch break sort of setup! You're not going to get much variation on the imperial side, they only have one ship (for now) that would be reasonable to field for a 100 point list. I can see myself hauling around a 100 point list for short games in whatever sized space if my area gets into the game though.

Was about to say the same - in a 100 pt list, the VSD isn't really a viable option. I was thinking about point size for smaller "skirmish" type games and 150 gives a lot more options on both sides and allows for commanders to be used.

VIC-I and 2 flights TIE/LN's -- OR Howlrunner.

Sounds like a fast, ugly, learning game

I was thinking a fully tricked out VIC-I... but with only one defence dice, couldn't that just be trounced by any number of X-Wings, B-Wings or Y-Wings? I supose a VIC-II with 3 TIE flights...

I think we have our Vic points reversed.

The 75 pt Vic (which-ever one that turns out to be :) ) and 3 TIE/Ln's OR Howlrunner and a TIE/LN seems the way to go. That will depend upon how durable Howlrunner is with her defense tokens and how effective on squadron of TIE guns turns out to be.

I think Vic are the wild card at 100pt, Your would think that they would out class any ship (core/wave 1) in a 1 on 1 (AF2 might give it a run) or 1 on 2 (say 2 corvettes), but, if enemy squadrons chew thru your fighter suport, they are going to be like a little stinging bee, and hard to kill with the 1 anti squadron defense.

Hehe. Yeah. As much as I love the idea of having a single VSD trouncing stuff...that gives the captain in me a serious case of TRD flashback! :
