Prince Xizor V1.0

By drdoom28704, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Here is my attempt at a Scum list, after a little testing on Vassal:

Prince Xizor (Star Viper) (40)

-Predator (or Outmaneuver, depends on taste)

-Advanced Sensors

-Autothrusters

-Virago

Torkhil Mux (HWK290) (30)

-Ion Cannon Turret (or Blaster Turret -1 pt, depends on taste)

-Moldy Crow

-Recon Specialist

Kaa'to Leeachos (Z95) (17)

-Bodyguard

Black Sun Soldier (Z95) (13)

=100 points

Basic idea is to keep Mux at range 2 of problem ships, and the rest to pound it. Keep everyone within range 1 of each other if possible, but Mux/Kaa'to make a fun combo keeping someone with +1 Green for almost no cost. I thought I would use the +1 on Xizor, but found it was more effective on Mux. He tends to attract a lot of attention as he hits people with the PS0 business, and Xizor is tough to make damage stick to.

Thus far I have tested it against a Fat Han/Talas and a Decimator/Phantom build. It matched up well vs the Admiral/Echo list, as Echo was neutralized almost immediately. Admiral going last isn't much of a worry. Han/Talas was a little harder, but Han shooting last was amusing. He is still tanky and a grind.

That's a clever build with the HWK recon specialist and Kaa'to w/ Bodyguard. I might have to borrow that.

How does Xizor do? How often do people fire at him? Does he dish out the damage? I have the exact build you do, but was going to use Outmaneuver for him.

Both opponents fired at him early, but after they could not make damage stick they started going after Mux. One use of his ability makes him public enemy number one! Then I shifted body guard to him, and Xizor operated with impunity almost. He landed solid hits, but nothing truly earth shattering. It's a very grindy list, in that not a lot of extreme firepower on the face. Xizor's maneuverability is on par with a Phantom with the S Loop.

I originally had it as Outmaneuver, and it worked well. I just changed recently to Predator to keep a higher number of solid hits. Outmaneuver works very well against Han!

How are you using Bodyguard on Mux? It says the one being bodyguarded needs to be a higher pilot skill. This would mean that Xizor would be the only legal target of Bodyguard.

Mr Rivers is right here. You 'could' put swarm tactics on xizor and it would still work.... or decoy (range 2 vs 1)

Yeah I just realized that. But I am sure I will find a way around it. But it does say higher pilot skill, and that's annoying!

To be fair: Bodyguard was originally intended for Xizor, not Mux.

What about downgrading to a Binayre Pirate and putting a Deadman's Switch on him?

I'm not a huge fan of the Deadman's Switch, since the idea is to fly within R1 of Xizor to pass off hits on him. I have considered however using the Feedback Array to do dice-less damage to a non-zero'd Phantom/Interceptor/High AGI ship.

Based on the new information I'd try this list:

Prince Xizor (Star Viper) (40)

-Predator/Outmaneuver

-Advanced Sensors

-Autothrusters

-Virago

(-Inertial Dampeners or Initiative Bid)

Torkhil Mux (HWK290) (29)

-Blaster Turret

-Moldy Crow

-K4 Security Droid

Black Sun Soldier (Z95) (15)

-Feedback Array

Black Sun Soldier (Z95) (15)

-Feedback Array

=100 points

Same basic strategy as before, just no Bodyguard/Token pulling. More 'direct' damage to harm a non-zero'd high AGI ship.

Another variation on this theme that I can see working well might be:

Prince Xizor (Star Viper) (40)

-Opportunist

-Advanced Sensors

-Autothrusters

-Virago

(-Inertial Dampeners +1)

Palob Godalhi (HWK290) (32)

-Opportunist

-Blaster Turret (or Ion Turret +1)

-Moldy Crow

(-Inertial Dampeners +1)

Black Sun Soldier (Z95) (13)

Black Sun Soldier (Z95) (13)

=98 points

More focused on Opportunist, and stripping Focus/Evade from opponents.

I like the mux one better.

You could also use Kavil w/ blaster and agromech if you just want damage output.

After thinking about it, the original list could work, but instead of using Predator/Outmaneuver on Xizor, you would use Decoy, and have yourself an extra point. The same basic strategy would apply just have to choose who's getting the +1 for the turn. The upside is that with Decoy, even the Black Sun Solider could get the +1. Kaa'to still cannot get it, but that's the limitations of the Bodyguard EPT.

Might even help keep Xizor from hitting all those Rebel Captives, which leads me to ask: Why would he give a crap about ANY captive?
