Haunting Poltergeist and Baba Yaga's Hut: which trumps?

By Dizziesed, in Talisman

I've been moving through the woodlands board with the Haunting Poltergeist, which limits my move to one space per turn. About two-thirds of the way in, I drew Baba Yaga's Hut, with encounter number 1. Baba Yaga's Hut, like the Haunting Poltergeist, must be taken as a follower, and also automates movement distance (5 spaces instead of 1). How can I have two conflicting "you must move this many spaces" followers? Does one trump the other? Or can I not take the hut because I already have the poltergeist? If that were the case, what happens to the Hut and other cards on the space? Both followers are lost the same way (crossing the Storm river), so it wouldn't be a matter of following the directions of one, and then switching to the other when that one is lost or something.

Haunting Poltergeist wins! This is a case of something affecting you when you "roll for movement" vs. "move normally," as outlined in the FAQ.

Baba Yaga's Hut says you move five spaces instead of rolling. So when you have the Hut, your "normal move" changes from rolling the die to moving five spaces.

The Poltergeist doesn't specify when it affects your movement, so it's assumed to affect you at all times (i.e. instead of "moving normally"). Since your "normal move" is to move 5 spaces, the Poltergeist trumps that, and now your "normal move" is to move one space.

Haunting Poltergeist wins!

Thank you! That makes perfect sense, and basically sums up the answers to any other questions that could have spawned from the encounter (i.e. what to do with all other cards on the space).
