Scum and Villiany podcast?

I'll throw my Double Defender list into the ring, even though I've talked about it a lot on these boards. I'm always interested in getting more constructive criticism, though.

Rexler Brath, HLC, Predator, Hull Upgrade, Ion Pulse Missile = 53

Colonel Vessery, HLC, Lone Wolf, Stealth Device = 47

The double re-rolling HLCs brings a ton of long range firepower to the table. Even Fat Han isn't long for this world if both HLCs draw a bead on him. Even a single one can push through multiple damage against tanky YTs. The white K-turn makes it solid against stress builds and is surprisingly useful against Arc Dodgers. The ships are fast, tough (if you can keep them at range), and punchy. In tournaments, this list has beat a bunch of fat turrets with Corran, a Fat Han variant, Decimator/Phantoms, IG/Firesprays, and a TIE swarm. Rexler Brath is the natural primary target, but if you focus on him exclusively, you have to deal with a AGI 4 with a re-roll, and your biggest gun will probably be gone.

Tossing in my 2cents, my round 1 match @Monroeville was almost that exact Horn + 2Ys list. Horn had FCS instead of AS, and I was at PS8 @98 points so he moved first.

With my specific breed of dual IG88 I am very comfortable in this matchup, I think the IGs should be favored to win. Murder the stresshog first, then clean up Horn. In my game, the Stresshog fired his ion turret once, then exploded next round before firing - and he was the second Y wing to die. It could be player skill difference, but the IGs can reasonably control the engagement range and do terrible things to the Ys.

PS6 BroBots without inertial dampeners or enough firepower I could see having a much harder time.

That said, I will try and think up a list to toss around for the show. :-)

Yea ps8 can make it a bit of a thing, but FCS means you can't have an open dial and you can't adjust pre-maneuver to force bumps and deny shots every other round. I think the IG's are favored in that matchup. I haven't run FCS since wave 6 was released.

So, here's my list. Basically it's trying Redline out as a replacement to Fel/Vader as a counterpart to RAC. Redline packs a spread of ordnance that covers Range 1-3, hitting particularly hard at range 1-2 with cluster missiles that trigger a feedback loop between FCS and Redline's ability. RAC is only slightly different from a standard build, packing an Ion bomb to help Redline line up shots in later stages of the game.

I'd say this list has fairly good hitting power, especially against other 2-ship builds, where Redline will be able to make the best use of his FCS to chain powerful ordnance attacks. A Strong jousting list may give it trouble by just outshooting it, although the Ion Mine can really ruin their maneuvering if deployed correctly. Arc-dodgers will do well against Redline, but should struggle against RAC.

I'm sad that I couldn't make it for the show tonight but I look forward to the next episode.

What comprises Cartel Justice?

Cartel Justice

x2 Thugs + ABT + Unhinged + Bomb Loadout + Proximity mine

x2 Cartel Spacers + Title + HLC + Hull

Cartel Justice looks awesome.

Looking forward to hearing Biophysical's dual Defender list discussed. Planning on running it myself when my 2nd Defender finally arrives in the mail.

Cartel Justice looks awesome.

So many people are down on the Syck, but I love how it performs in this squad.

I will never bad-mouth a fast HLC.

Sidenote: When Wave 4 came out I had a lot of success with defenders, mostly with Brath because I was liking his ability. My meta was falcon heavy but I was beating them up pretty badly with him and his wingmates. That changed a bit when they started using Han with EU and when the phantom also started to see more play. So, I put him away. In prep for regionals, I thought that he might be a good answer to two ship lists, especially since the phantom went back into hiding a bit. He again did very well against certain builds of decimators and YTs (those with lower PS and/or lacking engine upgrade). However, I ran some significant walls again. Han with EU would still be a problem, but he's not seen as much, but the others were RAC+Fel with EU and Captive and PS 8 Brobots with initiative bid (both of which I knew I'd be very likely to face if I did well). The defender (Brath again) really struggled once it received stress and the PS Brobots could just plain out maneuver the list. I know I asked you about these lists and that you didn't face them in your regional (I think both Han and VI Dash you faced lacked EU) -- have you had a chance to go against any of them since?

Sadly I haven't. Family stuff has kept me sidelined. I did practice a bunch against both Fat Han and RAC with engine before regionals, though, and did't find them overpowering against the Defenders. The Ion Pulse Missile ends up making a difference. Combined with good asteroid usage, the fatties get a bit more predictable. PS8 Brobots is a list I didn't test as much agaisnt, but I found games winnable. The problem was that they were streaky games. The side that guesses better can completely bend the other side over a barrel. It seemed like no matter what move someone picked, the other player had a move that could take advantage of it. It just depended on who guessed right most.

I want to like the Syck so bad, but i agree that it feels over costed, and people are so down on it. I want to try running several all M3A lists Ive made in my spare time.

At our game store night, my son flew his IG-88B and Emon Azzameen list, with which he has taken on all comers and generally beaten them, against four Cartel Spacers with Manglers and N'dru Suhlak with Lone Wolf and got tabled in five rounds. It was brutal! IG-88B went down in one round of focus firing. There was some good offensive dice rolling, admittedly, but that list then went on to beat XXBB too...

Every time I've played against m3a packs I've found it pretty easy to get them at range 1 with various aces. The HLC gap that they leave rewards you double for a range 1 shot instead of reward/punish like most other range 1 exchanges. It's so easy to exploit on small base ships with high ps and boost that I think you have to pair them with serious ace-hunters to be effective.
