We had 5 sector events (FFG, Air Traffic, Universe Games, Level Up Games, YMB) and a final big event at FFG to cap the series off.
Cool, well when that gets going I'll make a point of showing up for one of them anyway. ![]()

Ha! That Barrel Roll template is fantastic. Love it so much.
Applied Perspective does seem like a great store. I plan on getting their range template set (the one with the huge magnetic one) and possibly some of the movement dials too.
I feel I need to clarify my post earlier as it seems some people think I am a troll or way ott about these "range aid" rulers.
1. If you want to use them go ahead. I will reserve the right to say you cannot.
2. If FFG says that these are 100% fine in tournaments and you cannot dispute their use then that is 100% fine with me.
3. Players seem to think they don't give any benefit or very very little. In a game with loads of Ion these are a very good help especially in the latter rounds where players can and do make mistakes.
The thing here is I can justify my pov on these rulers as they can be used in such a way as to assist against fair play.
The people who feel my pov is OTT cannot actually justify their pov as they need to concede they can be used to assist against fair play.
So lets just put this to bed shall we guys.

Please do. I cannot conceive in any way how they can be used unfairly, to cheat, or otherwise subvert the rules.
@Jremy75 - I thought my post was clear on how you can do this.
However.
Lets say you make a 5k turn.
Now by making the 5k you are also running through your next move or at least you should be.
However you have a number of considerations to take into account.
1. You want to get rid of the stress token but performing certain green manoeuvres can take you close to an obstacle. With these rulers you can tell exactly 100% accurate where a 1,2,3,4, or 5 straight will take you on the next turn.
Now most of us can guess with within certain degree of accuracy where the next turn will take us but not 100%. The rulers take the guess work out of it. Where a 2 might just clip an obstacle but a 3 will just take you past it you will now be able to tell 100% which is the correct manoeuvre.
2. Lets say you do a K turn with the intention of doing a bank the next turn but wait!!!! Your opponent has a couple of ships with Ion Cannons which make you do a compulsory manoeuvre. These rulers let you see exactly where a 1 straight will leave you in that eventuality.
I thought it would have been pretty obvious what use these would have.
So lets just put this to bed shall we guys.
Well, seeing as the last replied concerning this topic goes back to 7 days ago, I think we pretty much already put this to bed.
But thanks for being ahead of us, clearly without you this discussion was going out of control....

Convoluted logic much? You post your rant in any thread about templates. Just give it up already. It's hashed out. "Our" (there is no we). POV is that any even slight gain of information the marking provide is so utterly useless as to be meaningless. Likewise your posts are off topic, which has nothing to do with the validity (or lack thereof) of your POV. The markings were put on the templates long ago as a utility. No one really cares that they are on there, including Alex, Frank and a laundry list of playtesters who have them. Sisyphus would be overwhelmed by your efforts.
Enough. Whether you think they do or do not give an unfair advantage, this isn't the thread for it. This was a simple "thank you" to AP, and IS NOT about marked rulers. Take it elsewhere.
