Hey gang... last question for now (I think)

On page 10, the instructions state:

"Heroes gain experience points in the first two main encounters."

1. Should this read, "after" each encounter is completed? ie., passing through the door and into the next room?
2. What are the "first two main encounters"? Does "The Onset" count as the first encounter? Or is it after Encounter 1, "Room of Souls" and after Encounter 2, "the Lava Tomb". I'm thinking the latter ??

The rooms labeled as encounters (Room of Souls, Lava Tomb) are the main encounters, other rooms are not.

IIRC, heroes gain the experience points at the end of the encounter.
