Rules question - Forgotten Souls: Activation Card Instructions

By me1034, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Hey gang, I have some clarification on a rule that appears on some monster activation cards for Forgotten Souls.

Under one of the Activation Cards' rules for a Master Flesh Moulder:

"Perform an attack targeting all hero figures in LOS, ignoring range requirements. Each figure rolls defense dice separately.

I understand to follow this rule literally in terms of the number of attacks - despite the game rule where monsters only get one attack per round ("unless otherwise instructed by the card").

My question has to do with the range requirements. I just want to make sure my interpretation is correct that, no matter how far the target is, as long as it has line of sight, each strike will hit. If the target is 6 spaces away and I roll a 2 range, it will still hit. Is that correct?

To be clear, the way I interpret this attack is that it is a single attack (a single roll of the dice) that happens to have the ability of targeting all heroes in LOS. So, the Master Flesh Molder is still only attacking once (one roll of the dice), but the result of that roll is applied to all heroes in LOS.

And yes, it does not matter what range is rolled, as the attack is automatically a hit so long as the hero is in LOS and the flesh molder did not roll an X.

Yes, I did not think of it as a single attack that targets multiple characters - almost like a blast. You're correct in that it's one die-roll and multiple defense rolls. Makes sense!

Thanks so much for your interpretation!
