How should I understand "Limit 1 "Protector" ability used per attack"?

If 2 Royal Guards are adjacent to a friendly figure, they cannot give +2 ∆?

No only one of them would be able to protect the attacked unit. Not both.

Yeah, the wording on the card is very specific. If they'd simply said 'limit once per attack', then each of the guards could trigger their protector ability. But they specifically said only one protector ABILITY per attack, which limits everything down to only 1.

Thank goodness it works this way. Imagine the frustration of the 2x2 Royal Guard clump providing a free +3 block to every figure. That would be terrible...
