I just want want to say a huge thank you to all the people who made the journey to a very sunny Hampshire for the regional. It was a fantastic weekend, I had a great time, despite the odd hiccup on Saturday night.
It makes an old man feel very happy to know that so many people are prepared to put themselves out and travel along way to get to a little tournament. Sometimes just saying thank you doesn't seem quite enough, but it is totally appreciated.
A Thank You
I'm totally gutted that I couldn't come to this, but unfortunately my financial situation is so dire that it was either:
A)Spend £50 in petrol and have a great time.
or
B) Earn £100 in a day.
Really hate the fact that I had to pick B, I'd have loved to take part in this.
How did it turn out in the end? Final standings/shenanigans/other noticeable events?
Everyone got drunk at steves house
Chun li won both legacy beating nickolas the saint and standard beating akuma (yes i lost in 2 finals go me
) and i'm sure jack was not awake the whole weekend
No thanks necessary Steve, it was a great weekend and I had some thoroughly enjoyable games. So thank you for organising the whole thing and thank you to all my opponents.
Jack does not know the meaning of the word awake. He is asleep 100% of the time lol.
A big thanks to Steve for organising a fantastic event and putting up with an army of PSP-wielding gamers in his house for 1-2 days.
How about some tournament reports? (I didn't post one since I was playing with a casual aggro deck and played four aggro-aggro matchups so there's really nothing to report except that people's preferred method of blocking attacks seems to be with their face).
Hopefully see everyone next at UK Nationals?

Has there been any further development as to when this will be?
The date that Steve quoted this weekend was September 19th-20th, in Leicester. Not sure how set in stone that is yet.
As far as talking to steve i'm pretty sure thats the weekend u should be booking off now, come on people the road to nats starts now

Steve, we should be thanking you. The Hampshire Regionals that really were instead about the Great Hampshire Houseparty/Sleepover was fantastic.
Well i am sure ricky and alex will agree we may have had bad luck getting there but hey we still came and got in top 8 was amazing and hopefully next time we will have more luck and it was a great day after we got there.
OK, since you all insist! FIDDLESTIX'S BIG DAY OUT!!!
Rock up early (for a change!) on the Sunday, to find I missed a hum-dinger of a house party, and minus ChrisCymru (last minute thing came up so he couldn't make it). Ho hum, maybe next time!!
After many hugs and getting groped by Kyle, rounds are announced!
Round1 Me (Kyoshiro) vs Kula (Crazy Elf/Dave?) (sorry dude, names aren't my forte!) SCORE 1-0
OK, so this got off to a slow start, him using Great Gerdies to surpress my Destinys so he could use Forethought/Anti K/etc to hack me to the max. After building for around forever (including 3?! Secret Projects and the schnanigans it causes), I finally have the peices in play to push through a Tiger fury with exactly enough damage to bop him on the nose and take the game.
Round 2 Me (Kyoshiro) vs Felicia (umm, Colchester player No. 7?) SCORE 0-2
Not sure about the first game, needless to say I lost. Loads of Yi-Shan attacks to boost all followers and Felicia to guarantee going into momentum. Simple yet effective, I was rapidly out-gunned with stuns and boosts as my comparatively slow build just couldn't keep the damage out (along with the Yi-Shan 'If discarded, deal damage' - I made him discard two,at once, ouch!). Second game was going pretty much the same, then with time on the round rapidly approaching, I have two Tiger Fury's in hand and enough discard in play to finish it. However, the devious beggar had four cards in hand, spooking me into thinking if they were the Yi-Shan discard/damage actions (ooooo the mind games!). I drop Tiger Fury and make him discard two. He drops rejection and something else, then uses some thing to draw a card. I make him discard a third, and still no Yi-Shan action. Proceed to blocking, he part block (taking 11) and reverses with Feline Spike with full Multiples (ouch!) Cue massive misplay by me - by using my Amy's on the first Feline (revealing another Feline, DAMMIT!) and blocking the first Feline as well, I end up in a situation where I need to top a 6 for me second Tiger Fury (which doesn't happen) to win as he now has no cards in hand. However, in me staging area is Assasination Arts.... now the replay! I should have instead taken the first on the chin, AssArts the second to 0, then taken the third. This would have left me card pool uncluttered and more foundations available, meaning instead I would have needed a 4 (which I did get when I tried to play the second Tiger Fury). Instead, I ended up dead!
LUNCH!!!
Round 3 Me (Kyoshiro) vs Guy (Jonathan, Colchester clone #17, seriously, how many of you tinkers are there!?!) SCORE 0-2
Little can be said about this match. I had no idea what attacks he was throwing out (I own no ShadoWar), so lack of knowledge plus a well polished Aggro deck saw my slow build get panned flat in minutes. Long spates of Zi Mei Attacks and Pommel Smahes saw me stunned and damage pumped into oblivion. No contest, I didn't stand a chance. HINDSIGHT!!!!!! I should have been using me Seal of Cessations to nuke the First Rites enhances, thus rendering the rest useless. DOI!! GG, you grinning loon!
Round 4 Me (Kyoshiro) vs Sakura (Nick) SCORE 2-0
Nick had some clever tech, including ProgMal and Chinese Boxing, but unfortunately he couldn't land his Multiple attacks as I Sealed every time he tried and locked down his ProgMal/Chinese Boxings with my own ProgMals. Since he had no way to stop them, I proceeded to strip his hand with *** and Glares, then Tiger Fury to finish. The second game was a lot closer, as I needed to use two *** to get an early Tiger Fury up to enough to finish him just before time was called.
Well, as you can see a mixed bag. I eventually finished 12 out of 27, so not bad. I think Kyoshiro may need to be put to pasture, he did me proud but his speed was too low to counter any aggro tactics. That said, he was tri-symbol (I was terrified of not teching against EVERYTHING!!!). I think I'll go back to Iori (
shush, he's my secret tech, don't tell anyone!)
A Massive Thank You to Steve, another awesome tournament where everyone went away feeling good with a fistful of Promo's and some awesome games.

Heya Mate!
just thought id help out on your report from the colchester front.
Your first round was against Drew (DrewByNature) and his kula.
Second was against me, Paul, and my Felicia, glad u liked it!
and your third round was against Johnathan (Crazy Elf) and his Guy using the rights combo.
so you played alot more colchester players than you thought, but then again with the amount of us there thats not surprising! I faced two of us myself (didnt help they were the two i
knew
i couldnt beat without a hellova lotta luck, and with felicia thats not too easy to come across.
Anyways! good to see everybody again and a random shout out to the guy playing Astroth who i played first round, Yay first turn 12 damage throws!

I was going to say i was late for the first round cause of trains so i couldnt have been your first opponent. but yea my third round (and first game in the tournent as i was unlucky and got a bye the next round) was you and i am sorry not my fault, well yea i spose it was but even i was impressed with the way guy killed the second game i have never thought he could have pulled off first rite second rite firsty rite pomel smash third rite with the multiples especialy against 2 seals and amys i was fairly worried about them but i do like my fast games sorry if i left you in a bit of a daze lol.
The thanks go to you, Steve, for putting up with mine, Alex and Jonathan's lateness. The tournament proved to me that aggro is definetly back (especially now with the July bans) and Yi Shan is indeed awesome with KOF2006. Not to mention Path of the Master (the card) is a pain when used right.
