Saw this tweet today. Seems pretty likely we'll get ships from the new movie.
Wave 8 Speculation thread (not really)
I think that is referring to posters and merchandise. Although there is an outside chance they'll add Force Awakens ships to X-Wing.
Even IF this refers to X-wing, we're probably 2 years out, minimum.
They're likely to add Episode VII material to their LCG and RPG long before X-wing.

I dunno. They've shown they work pretty close with the licensor. It is possible they've been in the know and had ship designs in the works for months. And big companies like to align the release dates of products to movies.

No doubt, just for ease of production reasons alone. Doesn't mean it won't be in x-wing too, and it seems pretty unlikely they'd get Force Awakens rights and not cover their cash cow.

I've said before that we would see new ships from the new movie, anyone who ( which seems to be most of the forum when this is brought up) must not have played any miniature games when the prequels came out. Lucasfilm has always tied as many of their products together when new material comes out. Like it or not new ships from the sequels will be out, probably at the same time as the movie. If not shortly thereafter. Much like when they announced Scum there were many who said it would never happen.
So long as there's no Jar Jar Binks, I'm fine.
Well, that'd be the perfect time to include a modification for X-Wings in general - a TFA X-Wing with a couple movie pilots and a couple copies of a modification that would also work on Original Trilogy X-Wings to bring them up to spec with where a decent number of people want to see them in-game.
So long as there's no Jar Jar Binks, I'm fine.

Jar Jar Binks
"You must talk like Jar Jar Binks until this ship is removed from the game or you automatically lose."
Wouldn't it be kind of hilarious if the only star fighters in The Force Awakens were X-Wings and Tie Fighters? Given the degree to which Disney seems to be taking a "back to basics" approach with Episode 7, it wouldn't shock me if we didn't see any fighters with radically new silhouettes. The rumors I've heard about the movie indicate a prototype of a new Tie Fighter- that has been shown in the trailers, as it kinda looks the same. And I dig the new X-Wing, but... It kinda looks the same. And the Falcon has a new sensor dish, but it's basically the same.
I would also hesitate to say that Disney is telling Fantasy Flight "use these ships or else"- we've not seen anything from Rebels pop up yet, and that show is popular, good, and features a few designs that could work in X-Wing.
Disney seems to realize that Fantasy Flight knows its audience, and seems to have decided that Fantasy Flight knows better than Disney how to keep this game going.
Having said all that, it wouldn't surprise me if Disney showed Fantasy Flight a bunch of stuff that will be in the next movie, and said "see anything you like?"

Yup... same here. I was all over Scum & Villainy and I will be all over this too!

Well in a year or so we'll see what they've come up with.
Woo!
Hey, did anyone else notice that ARC-170 flying over the lake with hose X-Wings in the trailer? It was at the back, easy to miss.

FFG has stated a few times that the X-wing game is sticking to the Civil War era of Star Wars. Could the new trilogy spawn a new game? I'm sure it will.

Well that depends on the plot of the new film, doesn't it? For all we know the civil war is ongoing.*
Also, that was a comment in an interview, not a contractual obligation. We shouldn't assume they will absolutely, definitely, stick to it.
*if anyone here has insight on the plot of the new film I don't want to hear it!
From what we know of the new trilogy, the Empire hasn't completely dissolved. It looks like the Civil War is still alive and raging.

I feel like anything within a few decades still qualifies as the Civil War "era".

Nope. The CEO said it's the Galactic Civil War going way forward.

You can have both.
I mean dude - FFG has like seventeen different Star Wars games right now - I'm sure a new movie will double that within a year.
So you think this is the end of the X-Wing timeline, that they'll just dig further into obscurity for future waves? To me, "... and going way forward" means only one thing: they'll incorporate the Episodes VII-IX trilogy into this incarnation of the game. Or why else would he say it?

Those new X-Wings better have different pilots and cost a different amount of points. Also they had better not be substantially better than the X-Wings we have or no one will want to use the ones we already have a lot of.
