Flying into an unknown meta. Help me decide on a rebel list.

By BahnCalamari, in X-Wing

Going to a SC next weekend at a store I have not played at since Assault at Imdaar Alpha. Looking at the 2015 SC thread there seems to be a lot of Whisper+VI and Deci builds.

I am a devout rebel player and am set on playing a 2400+1300 list. I do not have the Tantive (C3-P0).

Which of these seems like it would fare the best in an unknown meta? I am comfortable flying each of these equally.

58-Dash list
1 • Dash Rendar - Push The Limit - Heavy Laser Cannon - Kyle Katarn - Engine Upgrade - Outrider (58)
2 • Chewbacca (42)

I like 58-Dash a lot, but co not like the 42-Corran he is usually paired with. This is my more tanky version with a naked wookie as his backup.

50/50 list
1 • Leebo - Determination - Heavy Laser Cannon - Recon Specialist - Outrider (50)
2 • Chewbacca - Push The Limit - Kyle Katarn - Nien Nunb - Millennium Falcon (50)

Both PS5, both 50 points. A more balanced defensive list.

Leebo+Dash/Han+Chewy list
1 • Leebo - Determination - Heavy Laser Cannon - Dash Rendar - Outrider (49)
2 • Han Solo - Veteran Instincts - Chewbacca (51)

I built this solely in fear of the Whisper+VI lists. Leebo will never be obstructed and ps11 Han shoots first.

Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Chewie Leebo worked well for me at my local store championships yesterday.

I went with

Chewbacca (51) YT-1300 (42), Predator (3), Recon Specialist (3), C-3PO (3)

“Leebo” (49) YT-2400 Freighter (34), Determination (1), Heavy Laser Cannon (7), Jan Ors (2), Outrider (5)
If I had kept my head in the penultimate turn of the last game I might have just nicked 2nd place - as it was I managed a creditable 5th - not bad for my first competitive event.
Without Threepio I'd be tempted to go for Lando - he's a gamble for sure, but has the potential to match Threepio in defence and with Recon you can double up any focus rolled for additional attack/defence potential
worth a try perhaps?

Recon lets you take two focus tokens per focus action. Lando is his own action, not a focus action. So if you take the Lando action recon specialist does nothing even if you get focus tokens from Lando.

As for the OP's question, I would go with option two or three with a slight prefrence for two.

Of course - I was thinking it worked more like Jan so it activates on both actions and when you are assigned a token

Doesn't really matter though - drop the Falcon title - put Jan on Leebo and recon and Lando on chewie.

Chewie takes focus instead of evade as his first action, gains a second focus from recon and uses Jan to flip one to an evade, then PTL for Lando to potentially give yourself a bonus - or take the gamble with Lando first and if he blanks you can still PTL to focus focus and use Jan to flip one to an evade.

Chewbacca [Push the Limit, Lando Calrissian, Recon Specialist] (51)

“Leebo” [Determination, Heavy Laser Cannon, Jan Ors, Outrider] (49)

Use EI on chewie and then you can try to work in an EPT on chewie as well. the way that PtL is worded, you have to do lando first and then the focus action. EI says you do an action from an upgrade card (lando) as your second action - with PtL it HAS to be in your action bar.

my 2 cents

Good point - I guess it comes down to whether its better to go with Lando first or second.

As it's a pretty defensively oriented build I'd be inclined play it conservatively - save Lando and the stress for times when it's absolutely necessary

I'd feel better doing that than going into a marginal situation and being forced to take a stress because I blanked with Lando to begin with - especially when I could have taken a virtually guaranteed focus-evade combo first

So for me it would be EI

Don't think there's space for an EPT though - Predator would be lovely but the only place you'll shave the points and keep the shape of the build is by dropping the Outrider title - which might not be a disaster
