Padawan?

Guys, they're trapped in a temporal loop. We have to reverse the polaron beams to shock them out of it or something.

Maybe if we reengineer the deflector dish? Works for the Enterprise. :D

Eh, they'll tire themselves out eventually. In a week or two they should be done, month at the longest. By then some new contentious topic will have popped up that requires their attention. Possibly in relation to whether or not a jewel on a lightsaber hilt means it has to be a superior Hilt or not.

Surely a superior hilt is one with a mad scientist's mind inside.

Should we merge this thread with the Rick and Morty build thread? Lol

Hmm, we could probably swing that. After all in the legends material there were Jedi knights who were sentient crystals, they used pieces of themselves as the focusing crystal for their lightsabers. If we can get our hands on one of these crystals, and the crystal in question is a mad scientist with a thing for cephalopods, then we can truly have a Superior Hilt.

I was alluding to the Superior Spider-Man, actually. But that material really is everywhere, isn't it?

Google entechment, my friend. The abyss of Legends is endless and darker than death or night.

Ahsoka Tano is a Shien practitioner. Her reverse grip is a dead giveaway on that. You have said that Jar’Kai is a subset of Niman, and yes, you have said it is derived from Niman as well, neither of which is true . Jar’Kai is its own style, one much more difficult to master than Niman. This is why many (but not all) Jar’Kai practitioners learn Niman first. It’s not because Jar’Kai is a subset of Niman, it’s because Niman is easier (but not necessarily easy) to learn. So no, Jar’Kai is not taught in the Niman class. Rather, Niman is sometimes taught in the Jar’Kai class to give some basic two weapon techniques before moving on to the much more challenging style of Jar’Kai. In fact, pretty much every Jar’Kai user has had to master at least one of the six main forms since it can be used in conjunction with all of them. Ahsoka uses Shien Jar’Kai.

There's no Jar'kai class at the academy it's not a Jedi discipline, some old guy teaches that down the street. She may use Shien Jar'kai but she learned that from the dude down the street.

According to her entry in Canon Niman tab she is, she must have learned saber staff there.

Quote

As for the Yovshin swordsmen, according to Legends, yes, they did create Jar’Kai. The original Niman, while similar, was created by the Royal Macheteros.

They're not canon you lost that argument. According to legends Niman is also the combat style associated with the use of twin blades. The art of wielding a sword in each hand is broadly known as Jar’Kai, after the Yovshin Swordsmen. Form VI acts as a foundation for this challenging practice. -Jedi Path

So yeah, PADAWANS!! They're a thing, neat aren't they? Who wants to talk about PADAWANS huh?! I DO!! Oh look! This thread's subject matter is about PADAWANS!! How convenient!

So why don't we share our PADAWAN concepts? Nothing really mechanic related, more just concepts and story seeds.

My idea:
This was a short lived character in an off-site campaign. He was an Iktochi Seer, who was alive during Order 66. He was barely more than a youngling at the time, and he survived with the help of an older Padawan, the one in Attack of the Clones, that died trying to hack his way to Senator Organa. I forget the characters name off the top of my head, but I know he was played by George's son. Basically, his deal was that the Padawan drew the attention of the nearby trooper squad, so that the youngling could sneak away into the ductwork and sewer systems of Coruscant, under the temple. He used his natural ability of foresight, and his limited training in the Force related skill, to avoid detection and make his escape. He grew up on the streets, and used his abilities to help him steal and survive, by looking forward to avoid detection. He would eventually embrace his Force abilities, and become a Master of predictive Force powers, to aid his allies with precognitive information (basically all the upgrades in Foresight that boost allies), as well as learn how to manipulate the threads of Fate directly (via the Battle Meditation power)

So what ideas do you guys have for PADAWANS? The subject of the thread?

@KungFuFerret but is he a standard padawan?

Well when it comes to padawans I have been toying around with an idea for a Hutt one for a while. A Hutt padawan who was pretty much just forgotten on a planet where he was told to sit and meditate by his master. This was some 100+ years ago, meanwhile a clone war and a order 66 happened. Now once a centuary has passed, which is not that much time for a Hutt all things considered, and meditation seemed like a pretty good thing for him, he starts to get antsy and thinking that maybe someone should have checked up on him. He feels sort of bad about that, since it implies he doesn't trust his master or the other jedis, but it's still quite a bit of time, so he eventually gets off planet and discovers that lots of stuff has happened while he was gone.

Now this would probably be a distinctly non-standard padawans, since Hutts aren't exactly common as Jedi. But I feel like it would be interesting to give one a whirl and see how you could work around the weaknesses of a Hutt with Force stuff. I was thinking of going Ascetic for having spent all that time on a deserted planet meditating and then branching into Niman since that would cover some of the weak points on a Hutt.

Seems like it would be a fun thing to try at some point.

Relax the op hasn’t logged in since 2016, it’s a zombie thread. Half the posts are about pvp, and standardized jedi.

I'm perfectly relaxed, but it's a matter of principle, that of keeping a thread on topic. And the fact that you are pointlessly debating Tramp, who is about the most stubborn, bull-headed posters on this site, who like the terminator, simply will NOT STOP, telling you you are wrong, until you either concede, or simply stop replying.

I like the idea, as it would be a great pick for a more mental based Jedi, instead of a martial. Though of course you could go martial, but if he's chill enough to meditate for 100 years, and only THEN getting antsy, he's probably more inclined to intellectual pursuits. :D It would be pretty neat to watch a Force powerful Hutt slowly sliding around a combat field, flinging people with Move, or using other powers to assist indirectly.

Sure I be ending my debate soon. Not immediately. I guess I could just put tramp on ignore. I have something else in mind first.

Guys, I bought a van, but the heating is busted. Do you think I could insulate it for the winter?

Is this the right thread to ask how to pad a van?

That depends... How many movie quality padawans can you fit in it?
