Jodo Kast idea (complete with custom card)

By Tensketch, in X-Wing

So with Scum looming on the horizon, it's got me thinking about the slew of characters that are about to hit in future waves. One of these characters is Jodo Kast.

Brief overview of Kast, he's a bounty hunter who wears Mandalorian Armour, he doesn't tell people he is Boba Fett, but he doesn't necessarily tell them he isn't. Now Kast flies a lambda class shuttle and I really dont wanna see him bring that to scum as I feel it will be pointless and I dont want to see too much crossover in terms of faction ships. So I want him to be a crew card.

As Kast uses his Mandalorian armour to score higher profile jobs because people mistake him for Fett so I felt the correct flavour for this card would be to have him rip off one of Fetts Abilities, but not as good. In this case, he can re-roll a single blank result if he is in range 1 of an enemy as opposed to as many dice as there are range 1 enemies.

So, what do you guys think? Decent idea to get Diet-Fett into the game? What changes would you make? Builds would you include him in? Or do you have any better ideas?

I really wanna hear them, because I find myself a fan of this guy for some reason and I really wanna see him in the game in some way, shape or form.

He could be 1 point cheaper for that ability. I feel like 3 points is way too limiting.

I really like the idea and the card work is awesome!

From a current design perspective I'd make him Scum only (the Firespray wouldn't have been added to the Imps if S&V had been part of the plan from day one), but other than that seems fine.

I would like to see a Foxcatch card with an entirely different statline (essentially the named pilots to the YT-1300's ORS).

I would debate that as Boba especially worked with the Empire quite often.

I like that putting him on Fett's ship would be totally redundant, since I know these guys would never team up.

Likewise Han and Chewie worked for the Hutts quite often, probably even more than they did for the Rebellion. They *had* to put out a Firespray model and it just got shoehorned in because the more appropriate Scum designation didn't exist yet.

In fairness, I think we should have a Scum Falcon as well, but I'd imagine that they'd like to avoid cross-pollination in the future.

This was exactly my thought! Having him there would be a slight bonus but not enough for the points cost so you would less likely to take him on the Scum Firespray, however...

And this is why I made him Imperial and Scum, in the scum sense, it doesnt really work well to have him on Fetts firespray, but when you have the imperial firespray, it adds something extra, not a massive game changer, but something to consider at least. My thinking behind that was because in the context of the imperials, they are hiring fett and kast and at the end of the day, a job is a job, so although it isnt the best match in the world, it still adds a little something and keeps with the overall flavour of the card.

Also imperial fett with kast and lone wolf would be pretty mean.

I'm gonna point out that lone wolf is one point cheaper and works just as well as this. If I'm putting a 3 point crew member on my firespray, it's a recon specialist.

That being said, I'm surprised there wasn't a phantom QQ post yet, 5 dice with a reroll and the extra defense boost would be nice :D

I agree it can be cheaper without being broken, does need some text to stop bobba using him though.

NOPE! If they add a Falcon to another faction it will be the "Smugglers and Spies" when they get added. X-Wings factions are basically mirroring the LCG which had Rebels and Empire then had Scum added. Since they just added "Smugglers and Spies" to the LCG it only makes sense we will see a 4th faction in X-Wing.

I remain unconvinced that a "light side" Scum faction is likely and definitely not necessary, especially with pilots like Drea Renthal, Azzameen, Palob, Serissu, etc already represented in Scum and the particularly good guy Scum are Rebel-only.

Factions that work in a LCG do not necessarily work in this game. By definition, a spy does not want to engage in a dogfight. Don't expect a Jedi or Smith faction either. I am more than happy to be proven wrong but I can't imagine a fourth faction for this game.

Diet Fett? More like Fett Light or Fett Zero.

(I like the Crew card; I'd make it 2 points.)

Jodo Kast. Unique. Scum or Imperial Only. 2 squad points.

While at Range 1 of at least 1 enemy ship, when attacking or defending you may reroll one of your blank dice.

Jodo Kast cannot be included in a fleet that also has Boba Fett.

If a ship carrying Boba Fett successfully destroys this ship, this ship is valued at double its normal squad points.
