I'm just getting in to painting, and have tried mixing my own paints, with mixed (haha) results.

I just wondered if someone could tell what paint colors, preferably Vallejo, is used on the different models.

Right now I'm repainting the YT's, so the red and dark grey on there.

And maybe the dark grey used on the Decimator (and the Firespray, if that's even the same tone).

Well, just pour out any tips for paint matching that you have, again, preferably Vallejo, as that's what they have at my FLGS, and I like the drop bottles

I'd imagine the Decimator uses the Vallejo equivalent of Codex grey (Cold Grey in the Game Colors range). Won't be a perfect match, but it should be pretty close.

I myself use Apple Barrel Pewter Grey for similar purposes, but it's a bit darker.

Medium Sea Gray in Vallejo's Model Color line is very close to the base Decimator plastic.

I have the medium sea grey on my "to buy" list, but I was thinking it would match some of the Rebel light grey instead, on the X-wings for example.

Sorry to hijack your thread, but does anyone know of a close match to the Transport X-wing's base? Thanks!

The red on the YT is anvexact match with Vallejo cadmium red make sure you give it a good shake because that paint tends to separate out with a purple color on top inside the bottle. Shake it up, exact match! Don't forget it is ALWAYS better to water down and apply 2, 3 coats rather than a thick one that usually comes out splotchy. Good luck!

Vallejo green-grey is what I use for rebel hull, its almost a perfect match, just a little brighter. I think its a little cleaner looking. Remember to use multiple thin coats!
