Thinking about buying questions

By alexbobspoons, in Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game

Hi there

I know the game is finished but im still thinking of buying it.

My question, is that do you need (or desire) to buy multiples of each product for decent deck building? Are you restricted to a max of each card in a deck so that its not worth buying multiples or is it such that 2,3 or 10 of each product is desired or necessary? (I know the packs include duplicates anyway)

So if i bought one of every pack would that be perfect or still lacking?

Trying to build a shopping list and see if its worthwhile financially.

As a second question, if I then factor in enough product for two players, is one of all the products still enough to make two player ok if a friend has no product (this time assuming some cards thus maybe not in quantities that both can use in same game)

Any advice or thoughts much appreciated thank you :)

Alex

You're allowed to have three copies of a card in your deck. The core set, Assault on Ulthuan, and the first battlepacks cycle do NOT contain three copies of every card, everything else does.

The answers to your other questions depend. If you want to be able to build every possible deck in a way that it works well, especially if we're talking highly competitive decks, you'll need to buy multiples of the above to have three copies of every card. If you don't, your options will be somewhat limited, but still plentiful. Same goes for the friend, if you both want to be able to play the same faction at the same time, say an Orcs vs Orcs match, you'll need multiple copies of various expansions if you both want to have access to all the cards. If you're fine with playing different factions against each other or if the decks don't need to be highly competitive, you don't.

My advice would be to get one core set and one Assault on Ulthuan first to see if you like the basic mechanics of the game (keeping in mind that it of course gets much deeper with a bigger card pool). Then I'd get the other deluxe expansions, then packs from everything but the first cycle, cause your net gain from those will be much higher than from additional copies of core and Ulthuan, or from first cycle packs.

Thank you so very much thats great advice.

Really I mainly want to make sure I am good to make my own decks, the friend issue is just a bonus so playing other armies works well in that instance.

I just won an ebay auction that includes 3 of the core packs as well as

3 x path of the zealot

3 x the skavenblight threat

and numerous other single packs and expansions.

So that just means that for a "complete" set I would need one of all the remainig missing packs from the auction (plus if I really pushed it, the four corruption cyle remaining packs in triplicate as well as triplicate on Ulthuan)

Thank yoou very much, its very good to know exactly what my ultimate goal is, very much appreciated.
