I am trying one of my first big tourney's. Can I please have this list assessed?
Wedge: R2-D2, Proton Torpedoes, VI, Engine upgrade
Hobbie: R3-A2, Hull upgrade
Tarn: R7, Hull upgrade
Thank you

If you are doing an EU on wedge i feel like you also have to have PTL to really boost the offensive (also works well with R2 D2), so dropping VI and PT and adding PTL leaves you with an extra two points

PILOTS
"Hobbie" Klivian (29)
X-Wing (25), R2-D6 (1), Push the Limit (3)
Wedge Antilles (40)
X-Wing (29), R2-D2 (4), Push the Limit (3), Engine Upgrade (4)
Luke Skywalker (31)
X-Wing (28), R5-P9 (3)
Tarn can be an annoyance in the late game, but in this list, he really makes your opponent's decision making easier. They will ignore the hard targets in favor of soft VIP ones, likely Wedge and then Hobbie. Wedge also has a lot of actions available, but doesn't have the means to capitalize, like Nephilim pointed out. R3A2 seems tailor made for a pilot who can shed the stress, unfortunately for Hobbie, his PS is only so high. My similar Three Amigos list looks like the following:
Wes (R3A2, VI)
Wedge (R2D2, Predator)
Porkins (R5D8, PtL)
Now you have given the opponent some more difficult decisions and your list (for the most part) will get to shoot first. Wes with R3A2 and VI is able to plant stress on Phantom's before they can recloak, which gives you the advantage trying to one round them. Both Wedge and Porkins are offensive powerhouses and threats in the late game given their ability to regenerate. Porkins is suprisingly less predictable than your standard Xwing because of his stress removal trick.
Just considering lists alone, I would put my money on my Three Amigos over your original list for all the reasons above.
Three Xwing Aces are powerful, but you need to have real efficiencies to make up for the lack of quantity (in ships, attacks and HP).

I have been running XXX for a bit now and I would say while this squad would be extremely fun to play, it has some weaknesses that can be exploited by much of the meta due to the Mid PS offered by Hobbie and Tarn as well as the points spent on torpedoes, hull upgrades and VI on Wedge. I have seen Wedge, Hobbie, and Tarn do well as an XXXZ list instead of XXX.

The problem here in this list is with Porkins. Aside from an interesting stress-shedding ability, he is stuck at PS 7 with R5-D8's terrible regeneration mechanic. For the Third X, you want Luke.
I have been running this to great effect lately.

I would wager this over any of the previously listed squads in this thread. Wes and Wedge are well known to be great for the offensive firepower but Luke stands above both for one singular reason: longevity. He is very powerful in the late game and because of his soft focus on defense, he can be counted on to perform target locks early on and focus late game to regenerate shields much more dependably with R5-P9 than Porkins + PtL + R5-D8. People have a hard time with targeting priority on this list because so much is going on that they cannot stop through action denial or PS bid (aside from a direct mirror match).
It has gone undefeated twice in Swiss out of three tournaments and took third in a 25 man SC and 1st in a 10 man Casual tournament. Like all XXX lists though it has a weakness inherent in the low number of ships and if the dice aren't there, they aren't there.
Good luck with your XXX lists though. Let's try and bring it back with a vengeance.
Agree to disagree, instant. I'd take Porkins offense over Luke's defense any day.
