IT'S ON THE BOAT!

By JudgeShamgar, in Star Wars: Armada

When I placed a pre-order last week, i called to see if they knew if wave 1 was also going to hit at the same time as the core. The guy on the phone said that FFG has only confirmed that they will get a shipment in March and a shipment in April. But FFG did not confirm which products will be in which shipments. So take that for what that's worth.

There is something I have been wondering about after Cunundrum asked "is the first transport away...?"

Does the on the boat icon signify the begining of the shipping process or that the last container of FFG product (containing the particular game) has shipped from the factory? I wonder because FRP Games has updated Armada as releasing on Feb 28. They are usually pretty good about having the right info. It would make sence if Armada had been shipping during the production run as caintainers got filled at the factory. If that is the case, then the boat icon may signify the last shipment of a particular production run has shipped from China.

Perhaps Armada (and maybe even a limited supply of the expansions) are only waiting for the official ok to distribute to LGS.

Thoughts?

Feb 28!? As in, this month???

Edit: To actually link something so it makes sense! Hehe.

Dear god do I hope it is this month. I pre-ordered them to my sister's house in the states, and she is coming to visit mid March.....

Oh god. If it is the 28th....new date for Scum (solid this time it seems) is the 26th. MY WALLET HATES YOU FFG.

Yeah, I am passing on scum with Armada being imminent. If it's as awesome as we hope then I don't anticipate much time for x-wing :P

I don't know that I would hold my breath on that February release date. The game has been on the boat less than a week and the expansions aren't even on the boat yet. I think Wayland Games estimate of March 27th is much more realistic.

Our local store webpage shows 02.27 next to the Core set and 03.27 next to the others. We will see soon :)

Judge,

I know the icon says it has been on the boat less than a week, but did you notice my question? Does the icon signify the first or last boat out with product at the beginning or end of a production run? If the icon is the last shipment of the run, that may well mean the game has been stocking up at FFG warehouse.

Im asking because I don't know. I've never been interested in an FFG product before. Those with prior experience watching the updates may know better. It just seems like an important point when guessing about the release.

My experience with the Upcoming tab is that the only consistency is that it is inconsistent. Imperial Assault is a good example. It was on the boat, then back in production, then released in Europe, then released in the US, then updated to shipping now.

Wayland, a UK company has the release in March. FRP, a US based company has the release in February. Coolstuff, and The War Store have the release listed as "soon". I just have a hard time believing that Armada will arrive before the IA expansions. They have been on the boat a month, and have a release date from both Wayland and FRP at the end of March.

If its worth anything, i got in on the Amazon US order when they where cheap, before they brought them down. Im based in Australia and previously it was telling me late march - early April. I checked the order (which they have not decided to cancel so win!) that its early to mid March to have it at my door in Australia...

Just checked my Amazon status: It has changed to Mar 6 through Mar 9...

Hey, it would be totally awesome if you were right, and the Upcoming page was entirely bogus, and we'd have Armada in-hand in just a couple of weeks.

But why would the Upcoming page be so bogus, if that's what it is?

Yeah...that's a little disturbing. Why bother having statuses when they're not even being used properly or making any sense? They're supposed to be informative, right? Here's hoping that they're bogus too! :D

You guys do realize that shipping time frames are just estimates right? On the boat just might mean "on a container on the dock waiting for more stock to fill it" or "it just left the dock in a ship". Shipping across the ocean isn't cheap. They want to optimize space on all the containers they send over. You guys don't think FFG wants us to have the game? The manufacturing lines and boats only move so fast. I want the game as badly as the rest of you but this thread is going down hill fast.

FFG has acknowledged that they do a very poor job in communicating thier production and distribution. There is no reason for us to act as if they are historically lacking in that area, when they themselves agree.

And here is one in the US. Scroll down to the "S" section. All the Armada, IA expansions, and X-Wing items are listed as dropping at the same time. With some of these items listed as still in production, on the boat, and now shipping, you might need a dump truck full of salt on this one.

*Sigh* I wish FFG would either get the "Upcoming" tab more accurate or dump it altogether.

Every preorder sight I've seen is different. This is a link to the farthest out date I've found so far. Many still just say early 2015 as well...

So does ALL the stock go to the US first before its distributed around the world, or does it get split up initially and a container goes to North America, Europe, Australia separately?

I was speaking to the owner of my LGS about this a couple of days ago actually. From what she told me, initial releases are large enough that Europe gets shipped stock directly, but restocks are distributed via the US. Sadly, she was predicting that the UK will have its stock at the distributor on time, but that the stock will then be barred from being sent on to shops whilst the US gets its own stock delayed in the dockworkers' strike.

Seriously? This game could be in Australia already, sitting at the distribution warehouse or stockist that I pre-ordered from, and what's delaying me from playing is that FFG don't want the Yanks miss out on being the first retail release, which is delayed because the Yanks won't pay a decent minimum wage.

Lift your game America, poor form

The dockworkers in question make between $75,000 and $150,000 USD per year, which puts them in the top 3% in the USA and firmly in the top 1% worldwide, despite having zero (none, nada, nothing) educational requirements. They are hardly minimum wage workers, and if the soon-to-come bankruptcy of the Port of Portland is any indication they are about to do their own industry exactly what the autoworkers did to theirs (and the steelworkers before them).

No political bloviating to derail the thread here. Your political forums are over there somewhere ---> (not here)

Gaglug,

In defense of Kinetic, the "political bloviating" started with Funk Fu Master. You should direct your comments at the originator of the politics, not someone who explained why an ignorant comment was wrong.

Have a nice day! :D

I thought surely this must be wrong, but found this with minimal searching:

http://www.oregonlive.com/business/index.ssf/2015/02/port_of_portland_unlikely_to_r.html

Excerpt:

"The Pacific Maritime Association announced last week that the port operators were making an "all-in" offer that would include 3 percent raises over 5 years and increased pension. According to the association, the average dock worker makes $147,000 per year in salary, $35,000 a year in employer-paid health care and an annual pension of $80,000. The association's offer would raise the pension by 11 percent."

Now the question is, who do they consider a "dockworker"? Are we talking crane operators and pilot boat captains, or is this just the laborers wandering around the port scanning containers? I know the truck drivers are independent.

here we go...
