First Tournament - Looking for Tips!

Good stuff 3rd is more than respectable for your first event :)

And I even got my picture, that mat looks a bit busy though did you have eye strain after playing on it?

Yeah, it was kind of obnoxious because I couldn't see the asteroids sometimes until I was almost on top of them. They were made of cloth too, so it would fold up a little sometimes.

This other guy had a really awesome mat he said was from a kickstarter. It was made of tacky material that helped the pieces stick really well and it looked real nice too.

Fantastic showing for your first tourney, congrats!

What secrets helped you play Rexler so well?

I kept him back in a loose formation with Vader next to him, and then Mauler in front of him early on. Then the two Interceptors usually drew fire because they are easier targets and were threatening with flanking actions.

Plus, Rexler was able to take extra barrel rolls from Vader's Squad Leader in order to escape firing arcs a couple times... I always made sure to keep Vader at least within Range 2 of him. But primarily, my opponents did not prioritize him as a target, which is lucky for me as he was easily the biggest threat in my formation.

Too many just dismiss rexler because forums keep saying over and over he can't make his points back which is a blatant lie.

Played Thursday with rexler and mini swarm against outrider with x-wing and a pair of z-95s as escorts, rexler killed the outrider solo and finished off the x-wing and a z-95 after the ties took a few shields off.

All you need to do is approach slowly and blast things appart from range three.

He has no weaknesses. One slightly weak stat (E-Wing's hull) accounts for a good chunk of points, but having no real flaws apart from tight turns makes him worth the cost - even more so in a larger than 100-point game where there's points to spare. Also, dat white K-turn. Worth its weight in gold.
