Scum list idea

Hi All,

So, I was thinking about a list that Laetin A'shera would work in. I was thinking of having a flanking ship that sat at the edge and fired at targets.

Laetin A'shera w/ Hvy Scyk, Mangler Cannon, and Stealth Device.

27 pts.

So, what type of a list would you want to use him/her with? Personally, I don't like having 3 ships or less in a list. I want more. Thinking about that, though, there aren't many ships that are about 20-25 pts in S&V. There are primarily named pilots that might not work together.

I next started with someone I like the idea of and want to run. What's not to love there?

Kavil w/ Blaster Turret and R4 Agromech

With only 53 points left, and the desire to get at least 2 more ships, what am I left with? The Starvipers are not an option, unless I go with the generic. No thanks. I don't think more Y-wings or HWKs would work. I need something with some threats. OK....so I'll throw in some swarms.

3 x Black Sun Soldiers

You know....I have 3 Scyk's on order. I have heard from one or two people proxying them and loving them. I want to use those guys. Maybe they can arc dodge and such and get all in people's way. These guys might work better to keep the enemy busy and let Kavil and Laetin A'shera blast away.

2 x Cartel Spacer

Binayre Pilot w/ Ion Pulse Missile

I think the main group flies in formation. They mix it up. Ionize someone early to get everyone set up for Range 1. Have the named Scyk sit back and snipe at targets and evade all hits.

I guess the list isn't sexy without a Starviper or Aggressor? No one cares for the Scyk? No crazy combos to talk about?

I think I'll call the list "Hide and Scyk" as it' involves a few arc dodging Scyks and a sniper Scyk.

I like those syck lists ideas. Not sure if the cannons will be cost effective (paying 2 points extra to get them on sycks seems fair but psychologically rubs me the wrong way sometimes.) I just came up with this list using a lot of the synergistic options the syck brings

So basically if you fly it right you can get an opponent down to 0 PS (suck it phantoms) If you focus the TPV's they'll get a 4 attack, focused attack with 2 rerolls. There's no easy choice to target for your opponent. Serissu is tough to hit and he makes the other 3 tough to hit.

I have to admit that I cringe at an HLC on these guys. I cringe at the price of an HLC anyways, but then paying 2 more points is just too much for me. I think the Mangler is the way to go. Yes, it's 1 less die, but the ship is fragile and you won't lose points as easy.

Serissu is a nice idea, but I'm thinking she's going to be targeted about as fast as Howlrunner and die about as fast. I'll reserve judgement on her.

Laetin A'shera seems to me like the better deal. Him/her with Stealth looks like they won't get hit. Turrets are big and Gunner is big. So, this pilot will be fine with the free evade. Stay at long range and open fire. I think she's worth the points.

Torkhil is great vs Phantoms, but I don't see that many in my local area. I'm digging the Y-wings a bit more.

While certainly not competitive, I really want to try a 1 of each Syck list. Green dice are fickle, but it seems like a fun list to try.

Serissu - Hvy Scyk, Ion Cannon, and Stealth Device - 28pts

Laetin A'shera - Hvy Scyk, HLC - 27pts.

Tansarii Point Veteran - Hvy Scyk, Mangler Cannon, and Bodyguard - 25pts.

Cartel Spacer - Hvy Scyk and Mangler Cannon.

5 Green dice Serissu giving everyone else rerolls. Once she goes down, now Laetin gets the Bodyguard.

You could also go Mangler and Stealth on Laetin instead of HLC.

It is expensive but I think it makes the decision on who to go after really difficult. Every shot Serissu and torkhil take is another chance to get 2 solid 4 dice attacks with focus and 1-2 rerolls. My hope is that in 1-2 rounds I can kill or cripple the big threat to a list (whisper, dash, soontir ect.) and even if I lost serissu and/or torkhil I'll hopefully have a tansarii left to mop up whatever else is left.
