3XL Burrito

By frbfli, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I'm trying to come up with a competitive list to compete in an upcoming store championship (my first one). I was thinking about running something like this:

Wedge Antilles (29)
Push the Limit (3)
Flechette Torpedoes (2)
R7-T1 (3)
Munitions Failsafe (1)
Garven Dreis (26)
Proton Torpedoes (4)
R5-K6 (2)
Biggs Darklighter (25)
Proton Torpedoes (4)
R5 Astromech (1)
Total: 100
The idea behind this list is to keep Biggs behind Wedge and Garven, and fire off their ordnance as quickly as possible. R7-T1 and R5-K6 allow Wedge and Garven to keep a Target Lock at almost all times and Garven can pass Focus to Biggs.
Of course I'm open to other lists. My collection contains:
2 Core Sets
2 X-Wing
1 A-Wing
1 E-Wing
1 Z-95
1 YT 2400
1 Tantive IV
First post!!

my biggs list was

istib b-wing - ptl, eu

garven - with droid that spend focus to regen shield

biggs with r2-d2

the list always worked well for me its been a little while since I played it though. your list only has 15 hull and shield while mine has 18 hull and shield. just food for thought hope it helps

R5-K6 is the absolute worst Astromech in this game. It has only a 38% chance of working. If it was free I could see using it every once in a while when you didn't want to use another droid, but otherwise its completely awful for 2 points.

My suggestion would be to drop all torpedoes and R5-K6. That will give you exactly 12 points to throw in a Bandit squadron. Torpedo's just aren't reliable enough to warrant spending 12 points on them. Garven won't be able to pass a focus to Biggs either as you'll be worried about getting that torpedo off.

I hate having to use leftover points on a Z95 or Tie. Just doesnt feel right.

Go ahead and use Torps. Then you realize throwing in a "filler" ship is a better idea.

I've never been a big fan of Torpedoes or Missiles. They have some use from time to time but you'll usually find a better way to spend your points. I especially don't see the use of Flechette Torpedoes on Wedge. It will probably reduce your damage output as you won't have the Target Lock available for reroll.

R7-T1 is nice but I really like R2 Astromech in combination with Push the limit. X-Wings really need those green maneuvers if they want to clear the stress and still be maneuverable. The R2 Astromech is in the Y-Wing Expansion. Maybe you can get the card from a friend for the tournament?

R5-K6 is really bad. I'd drop it. And I've never used R5 Astromech but I think it won't do much on an X-Wing with only 3 hull. And I would also get a 4th ship. It's always good to get some additional hull/shield with some red dice attached.

I would run the list similar to this:

Wedge Antilles (29)
Push the Limit (3)
R2 Astromech (1)
Garven Dreis (26)
Biggs Darklighter (25)
R2-D2 (4)
Bandit Squadron Pilot (12)
Maybe R2-D2 isn't worth it as Biggs is not going to make it long anyway. Then you could put Cluster Missiles on the Bandit (yes I know what I just said :P )

What about torpedos on Han? I know its one ship out of the entire game but the reroll is nice.

Oh and btw: I like that your using 3 Xs. People are complaining about the power level of the X-Wing but I still think it's a great ship with some really cool pilots. And Biggs has one of the most relevant abilities in the whole game.

So fly something that you like and feel comfortable with. And most of all: have fun!

If I throw in a Bandit then I'd have to rename my list to "3XL Burrito y el Bandido" (Not that I'm complaining!) I will definitely try and practice a little bit with this 4-ship build.

The X-Wing is my favorite ship, and Biggs' ability is amazing! I'll see if I can get a hold of the R2 Astromech upgrade, too.

Thank you Jo Jo and cybu for the list suggestions!

I'm not knocking the x's they are great ships for fun games, but in the tourneys they get eaten alive. I hate saying it because I loved flying my biggs list, but once turrets became so available everyone is trying to do a fat han or some other variant you have to try and keep up with what the jones are doing or your going to loss a lot of games. another list I love to run is my 7 tie swarm list I think its loads of fun, and is still competitive.

Ordnance is hard to use. I use it, but I admit it's hard. You can use it, but it's tough.

I would put a Proton Torp. on Wedge instead of the Flech. It will do more damage with his ability. If you want the stress, get the stressbot to do it. He will work better. That is, if the Phantom is still around after you shoot! Very dice dependent, though. Maybe Predator for him?

Garven doesn't work that great for this list. He goes after Wedge and won't be able to hand out his Focus to do much. I'd trade him in for someone else.

Have you looked at Porkins? If you give him R5-D8, he only has an 11% chance of taking damage from his ability. Plus, you can give him Stay On Target and he becomes a very maneuverable pilot. Makes the X-wing better. If there are points, stick Hull Upgrade on him, if you can. He needs a double-wide. Also, R5-D8 will heal all damage once the shields are gone.

Luke is another one to consider. He's got the high PS and you give him R2-D2 and he's hard to kill.
