Unarmed Gideon

By Visskar, in Imperial Assault Campaign

I've been running Gideon in my group's IA campaign, and we're about halfway through now. Last night after finishing up our last mission, we finally accessed Tier III cards. We were just shy of getting Mak an upgrade for his rifle, and I volunteered my E-11 rifle to sell. I've fired a weapon maybe 5 times so far. So much more efficient to give my men orders, especially now that I can do it twice in an action.

Any other Gideons out there find your personal weapons dusty and unused?

Gideon definitely shouldn't be the first hero to get new weapons, but his ability to stun can be really strong in some missions, and better weapons will let him use that more often.

He uses a laser pointer in one hand, a comm in the other....

Same in my group. He's just so bossy...

Hmm, my Gideon seems to have forgotten his grace and tact. In Under Siege, he went grumpy old man, the last action of the scenario was poking his head out the base door and yelling for Vader to get off his lawn while taking a shot. Then in Sympathy for the Rebellion, fell back on his Imperial ways (figured he was an Imperial officer before leaving to the rebellion) and complaining about the savage beasts in his command. Though the best moment of that game was Gaarkahn warning Luke that Vader was his father and not to kiss his sister, only Luke couldn't understand him.

**** it man, SPOILERS!

Way late to the party here, but I have been playing Gideon in our campaign, and he has been very effective. I think he has fired a weapon twice in the 6 missions we've played, so we have opted not to upgrade his weapon. He also won his side mission, granting him Rebel Troops to deploy each mission, and at -2 cost, so there are always plenty of troops to command. One of those times he did use his pistol was when we were compelled to do the Vader side mission in an attempt to prevent the Imperial player from having access to Vader's deployment card, and Gideon was able to slow the Dark Lord with Stun, which was a huge help. I finally gained access to Masterstroke last night, and the double Command was instrumental in evacuating all the recruits from the dusty Tatooine homestead/cantina when the Imperial troops started pouring in. Gideon is quickly becoming my favorite character, but I have a feeling I'd like whoever I played.
