PSA: There's no such thing as an EPT in this game

By DagobahDave, in X-Wing

The upgrade type commonly referred to as an "elite pilot talent" or "EPT" is officially only referred to as "elite talent".

See pages 3 and 19 of your Core Rulebook if you don't believe me.

Now back to the important matter of playing with toy spaceships. :)

But ET's could be used as an acronym for a future EPT or Modification.

We're protecting that skill's future; It's Future!

Side note: was wondering when the next Ordinance on Ordnance was going to hit the front page.

Anyways, ET's Future!!!! XP

EPT feels more distinct. 2 letter acronyms are harder and more confusing to determine.

I actually was spending a bit of time this morning wishing that Elite Talents were separated into 2 types: support and self. Too often, I see support buffs like Decoy or Wingmam passed over because it makes more sense to put something like Predator or Push the Limit on a high PS pilot instead.

All of which is tangential to your point, but fun to think about. :)

Possible idea for the future.

Modification, 1pt allows you to equip an ET/EPT of 2pts or lower.

DTF Fel's Wrath anyone?

Way too late to change it now the communities made its choice and it's EPT.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prostate-specific_antigen

Prostate-specific antigen (PSA), also known as gamma-seminoprotein or kallikrein-3 (KLK3), is a glycoprotein enzyme encoded in humans by the KLK3 gene. PSA is a member of the kallikrein-related peptidase family and is secreted by the epithelial cells of the prostate gland. PSA is produced for the ejaculate, where it liquefies semen in the seminal coagulum and allows sperm to swim freely.[2] It is also believed to be instrumental in dissolving cervical mucus, allowing the entry of sperm into the uterus.[3]

Whats that got to do with an EPT?

I call them an elite pilot skill, so does that make me super wrong?

We can't shorten EPT, otherwise we're going to hit other IPs

Elite Talent phone home?

The references in the rulebook never really struck me as assigning a title to the particular type of upgrade, but rather were just descriptive. Could be wrong though.

On the other hand, FFG refers to them as elite pilot talents in the news articles.

As an American, born in the USA, I have become far too accustomed to the TLA which I use each day. Thus any abriviation must be reduced or increased to three letters ASAP. See EPT is a moral imperative.

Heresy!

EPT just rolls of the tongue so well. ET is a funny little alien, or a TV show about what famous people wore to some event or other (presumably).

...hmmmm... I wonder what the card text of Wing Ma'am would read like? ;)

has anyone ever used decoy in a useful cost effective way?

Gonna purposely mess up names now to trigger people's OCD:

Push it to the Limit

Lol I can't like this enough!

You should vehemently insist that everyone spell and pronounce "Admiral Chiraneau" and "Captain Oicunn" correctly while misspelling/mispronouncing everything else.

Decoy's cost effectiveness is a strange animal. It's like Roark's PS ability but it's range is 1-2 and max PS is 11 (PS9 + VI).

And swapping PS is dependent on the lower swap on if it is effective. It's quite strong paired with Corran Horn since his double-tap turns he wont be utilizing his PS anyway.

A-Wing Swarm-Bridges have high potential here's one I've had some success with:

-----

Corran Horn — E-Wing 35

Veteran Instincts 1

Fire-Control System 2

Flechette Torpedoes 2

R2-D2 4

Engine Upgrade 4

Green Squadron Pilot — A-Wing 19

Decoy 2

Chardaan Refit -2

Swarm Tactics 2

A-Wing Test Pilot 0

Knave Squadron Pilot — E-Wing 27

Fire-Control System 2

R3-A2 2

-----

Depending on which E-wing the A-wing is next to you always have 2 PS10 shooters. As long as Corran is within R2 of the A-wing and R1 of either of the E-Wings.

What occurs is the A swaps Corran's PS then Swarms it back to him or to the other E-wing after a Double-Tap.

I've only had some success with it since my loose formation flying occasionally is not the greatest and I'm outside Swarm range after I've declared Decoy.

On the other hand, FFG refers to them as elite pilot talents in the news articles.

Yeah, that did happen, but I'm going to pretend like it didn't because this is super duper important.

EPT = Early Pregnancy Test

It's true what they say about TLAs. They are a simple, bare necessity. (

However ETLAs (Extended Three-Letter Acronyms) are quite acceptable also.

Oh that's what that girl meant when she sent me a text I thought it was funny because she doesn't play x-wing mystery solved :)

...hang on a minute...

I've toyed with Vader and Echo with Decoy in the mix. It opens up some interesting options. Echo can fire at PS that isn't normally possible (9 or even 11), or Echo can take a different E(P)T.

But it is an idea to go on the shelf until the advanced buff so Vader isn't a costly PS 9 Tie Fighter and a bit more of a threat. And you need to be a better pilot than me.

Vader, Echo w/Decoy and Soontir will be something I want to try once we have AT and the x1 title.
