Now I understand a bit more

Now I was thinking that it would be funny to create a data base of horrible or silly SW EU things, like the ig nobels but for SW.

One man's trash is another man's treasure.

Just because you find something "horrible" or "silly" doesn't mean the rest of the community does.

Some of us liked The Force Unleashed as a video game. Some folks think the KOTOR games are utter crap and should never have been created, and the code flushed down the refresher right along side the code for the X-Wing and TIE fighter games. There are folks that think there's very little genuine chemistry between Han+Leia, with their "sudden romance" angle feeling only slightly less forced than the Anakin+Padme romance plot, and that simply because Harrison Ford is a far superior actor to Hayden. I ran in one Star Wars game where the GM pretty ignored the ass-pull of Leia being Luke's long-lost sister and had another PC be the "other Skywalker" (this was run well before the prequels came out) and having Luke and Leia hook up while Han got involved with another PC in the group.

There are people that really like the Vong, and as a few posters demonstrated there is plenty of support for how Karen Traviss interpreted the Mandalorian culture in the Republic Commando books. There are people that liked the Kevin J. Anderson books.

Point being, any such list is going to arbitrary at best and hotly-contested at worst. I follow the caretaker of Club Jade on Twitter, and seeing some of her exasperated tweets about what's got the SW fandom's knickers in a twist this week is a bizarre mix of funny and saddening.

And people (I'm sure I'm not alone) like Jar Jar binks!!

You're not alone. My daughter thinks he's hilarious. But, being 9, she is squarely in the target demographic ;)

I wouldn't personally go as far as to say I like him as a character, but I don't hate him either. I simply think that in Jar-Jar's case, "less is more" has never been more apt. He was just overused.

And guilty secret - I enjoyed his buddy-cop arc with Windu in Season 6 of the Clone Wars :)

That is why I prefer Star Wars: Episode I, The Phantom Edit and Star Wars: Episode II, Attack of the Phantom Editor.

I'm in my 30s now with a family and career, I wasn't when the SWEU blew up. I don't have time to dive into the EU anymore, so I won't miss it. I watched Clone Wars with my kids, now doing the same with Rebels.

Boba Fett looks cool. The EU for that time period sort of made him out to be the ultimate fringe badass. Many of us fans enjoyed that take on the character. I use Boba Fett in my Edge games because he looks cool, he's recognizable, and I continue the tradition of him being the ultimate fringe badass because that's the nostalgia that my players also have. It works and it enriches our game.

After seeing Lando's stat block, I honestly wasn't super impressed with him mechanically as a character. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if some other adventure book comes out and Boba Fett's is in it and his stats don't make him unkillable. I'm just kind of expecting that.

Force Unleashed was designed for all the folks who never forgave GL for ruling the force must never be used to attack; who wanted body-count movies for the prequels
