I did to, for the main book, but not Vader. So far I'm enjoying it
Where/how did you subscribe?

At a Comic Book store. They set up a box for you and basically reserve all the issues you request, then when you come in to the store you ask them for your box and they'll bring out everything in your box. It's not like a magazine subscription that goes to your house... and to be honest you probably wouldn't want that anyway, since a Comic Book in the mail would get damaged more than likely.
I did mine through Comixology, so I can read it on my tablet. Same idea though, they use my payment method to buy the book and send it to me each month.
I use to read the Dark Horse comics, but the were hit or miss, usually miss as I re-read them these days. I've only seen a few previews so far, how does Marvel's new run compare?
The 80's Marvel Star Wars were pretty bad. Anybody remember those?
I'm torn. I always want more Star Wars, but I'd rather have storylines involving original characters in the universe. I loved the X-wing series specifically for this (I know it has Wedge, Tycho, Wes, Hobbie etc. but these characters are not fluffed out in the films).

It's only 2 issues in...I suspect we will see new and old supporting characters soon.
I read the Darth Vader comic yesterday, and it's very good. We see Vader get verbally b-slapped by Sideous for losing the Death Star. And Vader begins the hunt to find out who that X-Wing pilot was that the force was so strong with...
I have my issues reserved in a box until I can make it to the store. When I heard that a new movie was coming out I decided to try to read some Star Wars Legacy comics to see what the E.U. future would look like and then it got canceled with the contract swap to Marvel.
Now reading the Marvel comics. Will see how it pans out.
I love comics!
Vader #2 came out. And the series continues. This is awesome Vader stuff. I really hope they can bring Xizor into this comic for an arc eventually.

Really that's it? That's just like what happend in the dh comic. So at this point is marvel just trying to out draw, ink, and color, dks old sw stories? Lol... kinda =[
Considering Dark Horse also kind of borrowed stories as well, I don't see how there is an issue. That is what happens when you do stories in the extremely packed era of the OT.
The Darth Vader comic is pretty awesome so far, though. Vader and the Ghost Prison levels of awesome. I am loving Vader being put under Tagge for his failure at the Death Star. Seems to be fitting rather than going straight to the Executor.
Except that vader wasn't really responsible for anything at the Death Star, Tarkin was. Vader was just kind of a visiting emissary.

As Palpatine said, while Tarkin and others share blame for the failure of the Death Star, Vader is the one who is still alive to bear the brunt of his anger.
If that's the spin they put on it then that is ok. I was just worried that they were basically throwing common sense organizational principles out the window and writing "something bad happened, you were there when it did, so it must be your fault".
Meh, the Imperial military has always had a weird organizational hierarchy at the top level. That and weird places Admirals and Generals fit. Tagge being a Grand General with his own Super Star Destroyer doesn't help things.
I will say that Salvador Larocca deserves major props for being able to convey Vader's emotions.
I haven't collected comics since I was a kid. I had just started with #1 of the Darkhorse Star Wars to see it go bye-bye. It was enjoyable. The Marvel stuff is just too new to really figure out how it is yet. I've got Star Wars and Vader set in a box at the store. Oh, and I used my SC store credit to get one of those cardboard boxes to hold my comics, some separators, and bags w/ boards.
I just finished lunch and off to read Vader #2.
I think Vader got kinda... bored? without a war to fight. Something like that. Stale. In the Tarkin novel, Palpentine tells Vader that the person in charge will be (basically) decided by a contest of wills between Vader and Tarkin. And Tarkin basically wins. That is _not_ the Sith way!
I think Vader is in the doghouse less for losing the Seathstar, and more for not being aggressive enough. For not being dominating enough. For not having enough mojo.
This series has shown us (in 2 issues so far) Vader learning how to get his mojo back.
I felt a little bad getting the last of my store's copies of Vader #3. But, I love the new characters. The Indy references at the beginning were fun too. I hope Aphra, 000, and BT-1 stick around for a while.
I think it is time to bump, because Vader Down is just great fun.

I didn't care for the writing in the first Vader Down book, but Gillian killed his book, as always.
