My Minis

Here are some of my painted Arkham Horror minis. I had to hold them to get them into decent lighting.

Those are amazing!!!!! Seriously those look so awesome.

The Shoggoth's impressive! Spectacular skills!

Thank you both; you're very kind.

My skills are nowhere near what I seen from others who have posted pictures of their work, but I'm learning.

The shoggoth was actually very easy to do. You paint the whole thing in dark green, then apply a very thin, watery layer of greenish-black, which sinks into the cracks and crevices. Then you take a dry brush and get most of the paint off of it. Then you flick it lightly over the model starting with darker green and moving up to lighter and lighter green, using less pressure each time. The eyes are just painted in bright red, with a smaller orange area in the center, and an even smaller yellow area, to give the illusion that the eyes are glowing like flames.

The Hound is done exactly the same way. It's an easy technique that anyone can do.

People that are really good don't need to use this "dry brush' technique, and can just paint the highlights right on. They use many layers and can do very gradual transitions of color to make realistic looking. I have some work to go before I get to that point.

Chthonian and the Hound are my favorites, and the investigators clothes. Dry brushing is critical to painting miniatures, I found, as it just dusts the right amount of detail in.

in the words of Darth Vader, " Impressive...most impressive."

Dry brushing is easy and effective, I agree, but I think it's most effective when there is a significant texture difference in the sculpt, like the folds of a dress, or hair or fur. The problem I think is that it's a bit messy and tough to control, especially in small areas. I've found that it's necessary to use a light touch and go it gradually. It's easy to add more, not so much to take it away.

Thank you, Professor. That means a lot.

I see your point about the dry brushing. I guess its been so long since warhammer 40k haha
