Expansions Issue

By Dog0987, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

i preordered the expansions with Amazon.co.uk some time ago, but have no recieved a mail cancelling the order. Amazon state that -

"Our supplier has informed us that this item is no longer available"

which is odd considering its not even out yet.

weird though, my Han Solo and Rebel Troopers has not been cancelled.

anyone else have any Amazon issues like this?

Yep and a few others and not just from Amazon.

My IG-88 was cancelled, but as you, Han Solo has not been.

Would appear either

1. FFG and distributors have severely underestimated the demand of this product

2. FFG has purposely not printed enough to hype up expansions

I've also heard that if the price goes up, Amazon will do this since their policy is not to raise prices on people's orders. This is their way of getting around it.

dont think its got anything to do with "on the boat." base set was like that for ages, and preorder went through fine. Was expecting it for Armada, as the price dropped to £45 (so i preordered 2 sets) but they still on order with no issues.

And i know theres no release date set, but again, IA base set was the same, as is Armada, as was a pile of X-Wing stuff.

Dosent make sense!

I can't wait to get my hands on the expansions. Minis! New side missions and rewards! New skirmish scenarios and command cards! And (I think) elite versions of Rebel Troopers and Rebel Saboteurs!

FFG is really testing my patience. I guess I don't really need the campaign stuff until the one I'm currently running wraps up, though.

EDIT: status changed to available soon.

Meeplemart has chewie and rebel troopers in stock?!? http://www.meeplemart.com/store/c/2964-Star-Wars-Imperial-Assault.aspx

I'm in the EU and have therefor never visited their site before so not sure how serious I should take this...

Currently out of stock at Meeplemart apparently. They're not out yet, but Meeplemart is very reliable. I'll be at the store itself at lunchtime today, so I'll have a check but I seriously doubt there's anything there.

Amazon cancelled all my remaining pre-orders so I officially have nothing coming now. Lesson learnt never pre-order through Amazon.

Yep, the same has now happened to me. This is the first time that Amazon has ever cancelled an order on me, normally they send a message that they do not know when or if they will get the stuff so I can cancel the order if I wish. Then it usually shows up within a couple of weeks of it hitting other retailers.

I smell price gougers emerging from the swamps of Dagobah...

quest do you know for a fact the demand for this game was more than expected? i heard this game did poorly. i was concerned FFG was putting out 2 new minis games for star wars, i mean there almost competing with themselves now having 3 at one time. i want this game to do good but i don't have a good feeling about this one.

Mind if I ask where you heard that from? I was looking at BGG, and it has close to 4,000 owners in the 2 months since it released. It's ranked 55th in the database, (4th in the thematic category).

I'm rather hoping it does do well so we shall see a healthy line of expansions.

The Health of the game is going to be with how often they can get out expansion and the skirmish part of the game.

This game did insanely well. No idea how anyone could think otherwise.

Expansions much like many other products (FFG and otherwise) are one more casualty of the west coast dock issues.

Edit: Somehow posted in completely the wrong thread

This game is still climbing the rankings, it takes time because you need to surpass a certain quantity of ratings to keep going up. Descent 2nd edition is number 35 and we all agree that IA will do at least that well.

If the game maintains its current user rating it will be the number 1 game on bgg, knocking twilight struggle from top place after a 10 year reign. If that happens the future of this game is assured.
