Are they 3D printed?
Scam Alert! translucent dice
Are they 3D printed?
Yes, and hollow. They're supposed to look like little holocrons, but you can't squeeze that much detail before you risk it vanishing.
Mother of god, those dice are cool.

Ooh, yeah, I see that! Much anger I sense in them.
As far as I am concerned anyone willing to spend $130 for some dice (some DICE!!) has more money than sense...I can't fathom why anyone would spend so much on something so trivial....these work no better than non see thru dice.
Perhaps you could enlighten me as to how these could ever be worth the cost?
It must blow your mind when you see the prices that real translucents go for.
And if you played yugioh your brain would melt as you saw people paying $50 for shiney versions of a readily available common.
Like I said, some gamers like to have their treasures. If you don't understand/think it's stupid so be it.
But it is a widespread thing.
The issue here is the potential for these guys to be taken for a ride by this seller.
I wouldn't pay that kind of money for these dice, but considering the price of FFG ones ( more than twice as much to get 12 of those) maybe someone would?
As long as everyone is informed it's OK.

It may be widespread (I don't play many card games) and I am not saying it's wrong...I am saying that anyone willing to pay that price for a "prettier" item has more money than sense and isn't someone I would be consulting for money advice or really any kind of advice, I am going to see them as a fool...I've seen enough bad decision making over the course of my life for this not to surprise me...that doesn't make it a good decision as far as I am concerned...I would laugh my butt off if someone showed me these pretty dice and told me he paid 130 for them...
What's surprising to me about this is how defensive and hostile some of you guys are getting to those of us who point out the foolishness of $130 "pretty" dice...
Tryten...those dice you are making are pretty nifty...I am glad you are proud of them...but that is still waaay to much money for proprietary dice...
Should we not accept written opinions from those who overuse ellipses?

I have just always found it easier to post that way for some reason...and it's my trademark!!
That's how you know it's me!!! :-)

Defensive, sure. You're calling them foolish and they don't deserve it.
Hostile? lol, whatever. I see no hostilty.
What's surprising is that you still don't see that people really love this game and like having cool kit.
When you see a custom painted Falcon sell for loads on ebay do you say "but it works the same as a normal one!!"?
If so you need to accept you don't understand and move on.

Keep coming at me bro. I understand perfectly well. I am sorry you are getting so defensive about my opinion...these people have more money than sense...you can have as "cool of a Kit" because "you love the game" as you want. Don't expect me to think highly of your decision to spend an exorbitant amount your "cool Kit" as you put it. It makes me question what you spend your money on...that's all. I am not going to not play with you...hell I probably wouldn't even tell you to your face that I think you made a foolish purchase...but don't expect me or really anyone else to be impressed with either you or your financial acumen...I don't see how being willing and able to spend 130 bucks on dice shows any more love for the game than spending 7 bucks for non see thru dice. Perhaps you want to explain that, line of reasoning to me?
These dice and a custom painted falcon are apples and oranges dude...some one turned a plain piece into a work of art..the others are just dice. But if it came down it yeah...it does work just the same as the falcon i paid 25 bucks for so again...good for you and your ability to spend more money? As I started above to tryten I am glad he is proud of those unique dice...I just think he is paying too much...
You are coming off as a but hostile...your dismissive lol to the hostility I percieve doesn't help either...but I am going to assume you probably don't realize that and are simply passionate in your defense of peoples right to overpay for something if they **** well please...and that's fine. It's no skin off my back...and no money out of my pocket.
What's surprising to me about this is how defensive and hostile some of you guys are getting to those of us who point out the foolishness of $130 "pretty" dice...
What's surprising to me is that you can call people fools and think they would be fond of it
"Coming at you"? Countering your points is coming at you? OK.
1) It's you that's coming off hostile. Who is repeatedly using words like foolish?
2) I don't own any swag except a chewie and a han alternates (won one, was given the other). I'm not the target of your disdain, I'm just defending them.
Yet you go after my "financial acumen".
Again, who's hostile?
3) If you understand so well then why are you in this thread calling people foolish for paying for swag?
Do you understand that this is a thread about fake swag? and that nobody wants to be called foolish for wanting things that are designed to make us want them?
Seems a bit...hostile.

That's an awesome first post. Look how many words I had to use to say that.

Not asking them to be fond of it nor thinking they will be...I really don't care...I am just explaining why I feel that way. I enjoy hearing them try to justify the purchase...as I have stated it's no skin off my back they are the ones who have spent, would spend, or at least support those who would spend that kind of money. Watching them get their pants in a twist over this is entertaining to me. If I had these dice in my hands I would gladly take advantage of those who would purchase them and sell them...seems I can put the money to better use...

It's the tone I am detecting...could I be misreading you? Sure...are you misreading my tone ? Yes. I chose the word foolish and fool very carefully. Note I avoided hostile words such as idiot, imbecile, and the like...this was deliberate.
I have stated this several times...I question the financial acumen of anyone willing to pay such an exorbitant into for "swag." There is nothing hostile in that line of thought or the way I brought it up...weather that is you or not I am not sure...though your vigorous defense would make me think tonight be in that camp...if you aren't...then you aren't. I have no personal disdain for you...I don't even know you. But I feel I can safely say you and I probably love the game about the same...
I poked my head in to back up a poster who I agreed with when a defender was shouting him down...I can go back and forth with you on this all day man. I am not going to change your mind I am sure...and this far you have abjectly failed to change mine. But this argument entertains me...
...I really don't care... Watching them get their pants in a twist over this is entertaining to me.
Right. Trolling.
Change your mind about what bro? Thier right to buy this expensive stuff?
They know they have that and don't care what you say.
No, I thought it was a mtter of understanding that they are not foolish for wanting the treasures associated with the game.
Now I see it's not.
Sorry, won't be...feeding you any more.

EDIT TO ADD:
in all seriousness...it's not that the foolishness is in wanting it...it's in paying that much for it...you feel that is fine and dandy. I think it's foolish. That's the long and the short of it. We simply don't and won't agree on this...it isn't the end of the world...keep on flying!!

I could see paying £30 for novelty dice at a push but anything over that is just throwing your money away, now getting your own dice made out of 3D printed metal is cool and unique because that's something you've designed yourself it's an art project, but if your just buying them of some random guy no your getting jacked.
We all waste money on games, other people waste it on drinks or drugs but while their high lasts a night our purchase gives hundreds of hours of fun.
It's 12 dice it's not even worth it if you plan on lying and telling people you won them yourself.
People are allowed their opinion, their allowed to voice said opinion and your allowed to disagree but there's really no need to get so defensive over it.
Oh hobojesus is here to sort it out.
Even though shake has admitted he was pissing people off for his own enjoyment.
What you call defensive is actually people showing shake a lot more patience than he deserves while he calls others fools.
I could be as blunt as that actually deserves but I've already got 1 warning point.
Yeah, I guess he's allowed to express his opinion that others are foolish.
How many times do you get to do that though?
At what point should you just concede that others feel differently and it's not wrong *or* foolish, and just leave?

Depends how much you value free speech I suppose.
It should tell you something that as I near 4k posts I've never had a warning point or received a ban (and before you ask yes I want a cookie) I'm vocal sure, painfully honest even, more than a few times instead of going for a helpful comment I make a joke trying to generate some lolz, but despite that I do speak honestly.
If someone comes on telling everyone he got scammed or almost got scammed he's inviting commentary and being a forum not all of it is going to be in his favour.
And let's be honest shake didn't start this thread he just posted on it and when you engaged with him he yanked your chain a little it's what guys do we test out peers to detect weakness then leap on it once it's found, can't blame him for instinctual behaviour.
See like myself shake simply calls a spade a spade, I'm not gonna sugar coat it to save people's feelings because that's dishonest and for all my faults I'm never intentionally that.
Oh good, the standard fallback response of the tactless and rude. The world would be so much better if everyone was like that...
(That was proper use of ellipsis, by the way)
I have stated this several times...I question the financial acumen of anyone willing to pay such an exorbitant into for "swag."
Does that go for anybody spending money on something purely for aesthetic reasons? Presumably you would never buy a painting or a poster to decorate your home, or indulge in any appreciation of art, for that matter. Presumably you don't care what colour your car is and buy the most practical model, regardless of how you think it looks. Presumably if you buy a new B-Wing and one of the guns is broken you just live with it, since it does the job and buying glue or going to the shop for a swap would be a waste of money.
Or perhaps it's a point on a continuum - $130 is passed the reasonable price for the amount of enjoyment it's non-foolish to take from a set of pretty dice. Do you have a chart? Clearly you have some objective way of determining this.
Sorry if I seem hostile, I'm aware I probbly do but sometimes it's hard to make such points in a disagreement without it coming across so, especially when you think the other person is so much in the wrong. I hope you understand, I'm not saying I think you're a horrible person or anything.

I agree if people were not all so two faced we would have a nicer world.
Why stop there, if nobody had feelings to get hurt at all there'd be no suffering ever!

You are not coming off as hostile at all...nor have you at any point in this thread. I am more than happy to engage you in a similarly respectful manner. =)
Calling a spade a spade isnt a canned response. Its the best phrase to utilize for calling issues as we see them. Neither Hobo nor I expect everyone to agree...as I said I dont even care weather or not people agree. I simply want to make my opinion known, make it as clear as possible and debate my argument on its merits. This can be difficult as I have to make most of my posts on a phone and this site isnt mobile friendly but I tend to be able to better express myself once I get home. That being said we are simply calling something we see foolish as foolish. Thats about the softest most unthreatening word I can come up with for how I see this. As I stated above I could have used a myriad of much stronger much more insulting words if I was looking to insult or troll. My choice of words in this was deliberate and was designed to encourage discussion. Looks like I have been successful. I enjoy hearing others opinions especially when they are different from mine..I also LOVE to argue and find it entertaining...watching people respond emotionally (as we all do me included...I have done so in this very thread) is also highly entertaining as it A. gives you real insight as to why the feel how they feel (you get the raw argument) and B. those arguments are often easier to poke holes in. Sometimes this sets them off farther, other times it gets them to at least stop and think and better justify their response. I am looking for that better justification. So jagged little fel can acuse me of trolling if he so desires. Most trolls wont go the the lengths I often go to to explain myself. They will sow discord with short posts and cackle from the shadows.
We have no idea why someone is buying these dice. Some of us assume it is purely for asthetic reasons, some feel it is to show off and look like they are better players than they are, some feel its because the person wants to have literally EVERYTHING that is part of the game, and some think "eh he must have the money and this must just be how he wants to use it." We dont know so we naturally make assumptions and that colors how we see the purchase. That being said I can understand why you have made some assumptions in your post...we all do when we are debating things, especially on the internet...so let me give you a wider picture into why I feel how I feel.
Your broken Bwing is a different story...now we have a faulty product. I am not going to pay full price for a faulty product. Apples and Oranges again. On the car...I am not going to pay extra for a certain color no. Nor has any car I have ever purchased been more expensive in specific colors. But I guess that could happen and that example would be similar to the dice we are discussing here...again no I would not pay extra for a specific color. If someone else did my opinion would depend on HOW MUCH more they paid relative to the cost of the car. In the dice case we are discussing someone is going to pay a 920% markup so their "car" in this case can be a cool color, nothing souped up under the hood, no extra bells and wistles, not even upgraded speakers...nothing different outside of color...that doesnt seem foolish to you?
These issues function on a case by case basis for me (the only person I am qualified to speak for.) These 12 Dice are $130 I know the average price is around $150 but for arguments sake we will go with $130. 12 standard dice cost about $14. So what we have here is 920% jump in cost...because these dice are see thru and more difficult to get. If someone forked over $50 or $55 that would be more reasonable to me. Still VERY overpriced but not in the area I would consider to be a foolish purchase. Now we are talking 4x initial cost not 9-10x...4x can fairly easily be justified by their rarity. The fact that a set of DICE would cost more that $100 at all (for 12) also seems ludicrous to me especially when the standard cost is $14. I am also fairly convinced that unlike posters, paintings, and other artistic items these dice arent going to hold their value making them a bad investment. I dont see people jockying for these dice 5-10 years from now..and there is nothing stopping FFG from just releasing them en masse. These arent custom made like Treyberts and outside of being see thru really arent special. Once this game dies (and it will as all games do) you will be stuck with some dice that you simply paid waaay too much for. And you will probably realize that you could have spent that money getting into something else.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. Like I said you are obviously very passionate about your position and thats fine with me, the differing opinion always has been. I just hope you can better understand where I am coming from. There is nothing foolish be me in wanting nifty "swag." Its the price that is being paid for what you are getting that paints my opinion. Its simply too much to justify for really any reason in this case. I stand by the statements I made in previous posts. If you think its worth it thats great...but I wont be asking you what I should be buying in the future.
You and I have agreed on several things in the past as I recall...I am sure we will come to each others backs again...and spar again when we disagree.
