Just ran the Beginners box

And now I have some ideas for a story and some encounters, but I'm having trouble with finding any pregen beastiarity/npc's for my encounters. Are there any resources like the bestiary or npc books for dnd. Something where if they have a random encounter I can just look to the book and pull out some combatants about the same lvl as my players.

You mean, like http://swrpg.viluppo.net/adversaries/adversaries/ ?

Yeah, there’s a complete list of every known Adversary as published by FFG. But this is just the stats and nothing more. If you want to know the fluff that goes along with those stats, so that you can play the NPC much better, then you’ll have to buy the appropriate book.

Note that this page tells you which page in which book each Adversary comes from.

If you haven't downloaded it yet, there is a free PDF continuation of the beginner box on the Support page. That has at least one beast, and quite a few other adversaries.

The free adventure for Age of Rebellion has plenty of beasts. These could be re-skinned and tweaked to fill just about any function you need.

As an aside, the cool thing about this system is that adversaries are little more than a set of nearly arbitrary numbers.

If you wanted to stat out your own beasts, the creationcreation process is really not very complicated.

There IS a selection of NPCs in the back of each of the Core Rulebooks. However there's not such a straight 'level' system in this game as there might be in other RPGs. This means it's not as much of a science to create challenges for your players.

There's not necessarily a way to mathematically choose a number of enemies for your party's level, but with a bit of experience in the system you'll soon learn how to challenge them based on the NPCs' stats.

I'm sure there are a couple of good Order 66 podcasts on encounter design and on building NPCs. The one about NPCs was a few weeks ago and had some great info in it, so I'd recommend checking it out if you haven't seen it.

And Admiral Terghon just created a thread over on the main SWRPG:EotE board on this exact subject, entitled “ NPC Creation Guide (from Order 66 podcast) ”.

So there. ;)

No such thing chummer. There's no CL system here, characters are made to fill roles and functions and there's no real rules for NPC generation (except for one specific instance in FaD). There's lots of adversaries in each core book, that can be used straight, or serve as examples. But if you just try ad pull them direct every time you'll eventually find some problems. An encounter with a group of journeymen bounty hunters for example could end very badly for the PCs, or result in them walking away with a pile of some of the more powerful weapons available in the game....
