COOP Monster Activation - Health

By Badgermilk, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Hi,

Got into another rule debate this evening. =)

If the monster activation states "attack/engage/spot the hero with the highest health", does it mean CURRENT health or POSSIBLE health?

Can't find anything in the rule books and we have trouble agreeing on the correct course of action.

I would assume they mean current health, although that is an assumption.

Usually, when FFG means the highest POSSIBLE health, they use the term "Maximum Health." Thus I would expect: "Engage the hero with the highest maximum health." if that's what they meant.

But if you want an official clarification from FFG, you can send it in to the Rules Question link down at the bottom of the page.

I agree that it should be asked, even though I think they mean remaining health. Just like "stamina" means the total amount of fatigue you can take, "health" means the total amount of damage you can take. A hero with 14 health technically still has 14 health even if he is 1 damage away from defeat, so, RAW, the card says "the hero who has the most health to start with."

However, if they said "attack the hero with with most damage" or "attack the hero with the least damage," that might not have accomplished what they wanted.

Hey, guys.

I got an official answer from Nathan Hajek a few months ago.

According to it, the "highest health" means: highest printed value plus bonuses.

Rule Question:

Hello!

Quick one.

I am playing the Forgotten Souls Campaign.

What does "the
Highest
/lowest
Health
hero" mean:

a) the hero with the
Highest
Health
number Printed in the hero card.

b) the hero with the most
health
remaining.

Thanks in advance.

Answer:

Health
” and “
Health
remaining” are two different things. A hero’s
Health
is his total possible
Health
(so printed plus bonuses). Remaining
Health
is, of course, this number minus any damage suffered. If it does not explicitly say “remaining
Health
,” then it talking about total
Health
.
