4x's, though fun. is just a novelty. X's are glass cannons. See here
Nothing wrong with the X-wing. Fly it, I think you'll find it good, but it will suffer against the obese turrets out there.
I played Chewbacca and 2 xwings a few times and won 1 event and got to the final of 2 more. So I have a basic understanding of flying the . Just can't deciede if its worth running . I fed up of turrets et . Wanna dky different things lol
I would try craken. Biggs. And a bwing. Spend the rest of the points on something cool. Wedge or wes or Luke. Or an Ewing. ![]()

i agree that the Xwing is a good boat to fly. I meant in my earlier post that an xwing only list is one sided and needs some diversity as other posters have suggested

I felt the same way. Im playing around with 3B's and Wedge VI and Engine Upgrade. Its fun and decent enough. At the end of the day fly what makes you happy.
If you really want 4X something Ive had a good time running is.
Luke R2D, DtF
Tarn R7
2 Rookies
I have been having good success with a similar list. I say fly it!
tarn and R7 is insanely good defensive and nice offensively as well
a rookie with r3-a2 hanging back at range 3 and giving stress is awesome. you dont even have to hit. just designate them as the target of the attack
I think if you fly it right, you can do much better than people think, and I also think this list is pretty strong against fat turretts.
12 attack dice and some durability to go with it? I'll take thatmatch up
I think arc dodgers are the biggest problem, but R3-a2 helps. I think this list is particularly strong against 2 ship lists, for obvious reasons.
Someone in the main forum reported having good usage with a list of mostly generics w/ unique astromechs. I think it was:
Tarn w/ R7
Rookie w/ stressbot
Rookie w/ R5-P9
Garven w/....something.
For my part, I'm still not sure about those two 4 X list:
Luke + Lone Wolf + R5-P9
Tarn + R7
Rookie
Rookie
or
Garven + R2 astromech
Hobbie + R3-A2
Tarn + R7
Rookie
First one is really defensive and have a better PS (although not that great) with Luke, second one is a little bit more aggressive with Garven giving a Focus and Hobbie dealing stress.
I need more experience with Porkins w/ Stay On Target and his repair droid. It's expensive, though, and he's subject to be targeted to pieces, but it has potential to be maneuverable.
Here's one I've had some success with.
Rookie Pilot, R3-A2
Rookie Pilot, R5-P9
Tarn Mison, R7 Astromech
Jek Porkins, Expert Handling
I'll be honest that I don't know if Expert Handling is the best choice for Jek, but it's the best 2 point EPT I could find for that list.
I'll say this though, if you see someone asking for advice on building a 4 X-Wing list, suggesting that they do something else, is not helpful. It may not be the most effective list in the world, but telling someone to include a A-Wing or a B-Wing when they want to fly 4 X's is not good advice.
I came 8th in my first tournament on Saturday using a 4 x build. Got beaten by a whisper & echo list but ended with just whisper on 1 hull and only lost to another 4 ship rebel board after stupidly flying a ship off the board.
Wedge with swarm tactics, Biggs and 2 rookies. Took out a decimator in 2 rounds of shooting!

I'd swap R5-P9 for R5-D8 for Porkins. It highlights him more but it allows him to use EH more frequently.
Also a GSP w/ PTL, Expose, CR is equal points as Red + R2. So 24pts for a pseudo X-Wing, Awing when I want it X-Wing when I want it.

Anyway here's a 4X list that I had some success with.
The Ghosts of Yavin
Garven Dreis — X-Wing 26
R2-D6 1
Squad Leader 2
Experimental Interface 3
Biggs Darklighter — X-Wing 25
Rookie Pilot — X-Wing 21
Rookie Pilot — X-Wing 21
It comes to 99pts one variation that I've also used is EI + R2-F2 on Biggs, but I've found I get more mileage out of the above setup.
This was a 3X+Z last I tried last week.
Wedge
Porkins with VI and R3A2
Luke with Lone Wolf
Bandit Squadron Pilot
It performed okay. Two PS9 pilots, a somewhat survivable Luke, and a cheap blocker. Porkins is actually a great candidate for R3, giving him a solid offensive threat and making it a tougher choice for your opponent whether he's a bigger threat than Wedge.
Hmm some interesting builds
