What? Agnes is great! She is a well-balanced spellcaster, and like you said, she has a great background.

Hurt: Diana Stanley -- I think her membership is overpriced and I don't see how she's come this far with people like Joe, Leo, and Skids. Being her encourages camping STL to get good encounters, otherwise you've wasted much of your starting equipment on dead weight. The problem is that without certain expansions in play, you're unlikely to get good results. Healing from doom tokens could make her a decent caster, I guess, but I find she's generally underwhelming.

I know. What a surprise.

Don't get me wrong, I can understand why so many people like him (although that is probably the main reason why I don't). If his Hunches ability only allowed one extra die to be rolled for spending one OR MORE clue tokens (rather than for every freaking one) I might like him more. His ability is FAR too useful (and abuseable) for him to deserve the extra stat point that he gets, along with Amanda, among the base game Investigators. Amanda's extra stat is well justified, but Joe makes a mockery of it with all those dice.

I agree that Joe is a good Investigator for those new to the game (especially since he was the second Investigator I ever used), and I'm sure he *has* indeed helped in recruiting many a devoted cultist to the game of Arkham Horror. However, in my opinion, he doesn't deserve to win for that.

For me, Dexter Drake is at least 30 spots too high ! At least the bottom 3 include 2 of my most hateds (from those I've actually played). Bob down at #34 is pretty big. His PS boosts him nicely, but of course, not all voters took those into account. As for Diana, maybe she doesn't have that many haters? Did Kate Winthrop get dropped so low because of IH and DOR? Ah, the conspiracy theories and suspicions.

Dang, I got online just too late on Monday to get into the final vote count. And I think the vote by Knuckles was totally cool. Kind of like putting down a favorite horse that has a broken leg. Very dark and eerie, just like AH. I can live with Leo at #1. I just don't see how Agnes made it so far. I think I've seen her in two games and she was not terribly effective. Maybe we just didn't play to her strengths.

That was so much fun! So much drama and suspense! My favorite, Harvey, finished a very respectable sixth, so I like the results.

So it's all over but for Jedit's official whistle. Surprised by quite a bit, mostly by some of the old grognards' bloodthirst, but also by how many flew under the radar. The rankings seem to be based more on hate for the bottom than love for the top. (But I guess that's the point of a negative-voting elimination contest.) Finn? Skids? They aren't really "favorites" yet, but they don't really suck either. The adequate have risen to the top, with a few fan-fevered exceptions.
