If X-WING Sucks... why it is always selling/sold out?

By Joe Boss Red Seven, in X-Wing

I love the game personally.

^_^

Based on the barrage of negative topics posted here every week; why do some people seem to want it to die?

It sells consistently at every outlet worth patronizing. Stock levels are zooming and seem to be more out than in most of the time.

Sold out and selling out games do not suck.

I am suspecting that many people play at home far from bizarre gamers and the meta yammering. These folks do not bother coming to game forums to post either. Why should they after all? They got everything needed to play already and are having fun at home in a pleasant environment which they control.

Wanna go out this weekend Joe?

Hel-Nah!

I might be getting grumpy in my wising maturity... kinda like Han Solo.

Ponder...?!

Not only do you have a very balanced game selling out that's fun, but the models are worth it as desk fodder for geeks! I have a few friends that don't play, just bought the ships for display pieces. I wanna say its a waste... But they sure do look good =)

Yeah you make a good point. I'll admit that I got the first few models just because they look so good.

:)

It doesn't suck. Unfortunately, the internets is a wonderful place for people to complain behind their keyboard...

People enjoying themselves have no reason to complain on the forums.

We've got, what, twenty or so "sky is falling" people? X-wing players number in at least the thousands.

Nice strawman argument. I haven't seen a single person on this board saying X Wing sucks or that they want it not to do well. Some people are concerned about the direction "the meta" is taking the game and how it affects casual play, that is all. And really this is a very valid place for them to voice their concerns, however valid or invalid they might be.

If only the "concerned" citizens (read: players) with meta concerns would not go so far overboard as they inevitably always do. :P

You know the happy people do tend to stay in their own comfortable lives. That makes sense of how we get more negative noise.

I would like to see more positive post here and in general... but it is what it is I reckon.

;)

Isn't this board for discussing X wing? Isn't discussing meta concerns discussing X wing? I don't agree with all of their complaints but surely they have a right to voice them?

Yeah cause happy folks like us get riled up and make a poop post once in a while.

It ain't cool... but we are doing what we can to keep this place good.

:D

The problem is any serious discussion will get derailed by skyfallers.

You know, it might be worth having someone level-headed and fairly unbiased like Juggler set up some "unofficial" forum rules on things like skyfalling and hyperbolic posting.

If not here then where? I agree. But it does look/read bad when so many negative topics are on the main page. I have a few friends that know I am on line sometimes, and they ask me why I even bother.

It is what it is... but It could be better don't you think?

Wouldn't actually deter skyfallers.

I don't see much nastiness here except for the occasional self-righteous twit confusing criticism that is trying to make a good thing better for complaining and general dissatisfaction. Criticism is healthy and almost everything I see is respectful and/or optimistic, even in criticism, yet it still gets the fanboy's panties in a bunch. Everyone should just "post casual" and freaking relax and enjoy a GAME.

Also, it's selling out because it is a good game AND they have ridiculous product shortages. It may be compounded by a dock worker labor situation in the U.S., but this game has had supply problems since Wave 1. Let's not give the game any further demand than it actually warrants (which is plenty).

Is this a love-it-or-shut-up argument?

I think of myself as one of the games defenders on this forum, but that doesn't mean that I don't think the complainers are anything but the loyal opposition (trolls notwithstanding).

Also, as awesome as this game is, FFG doesn't have papal infallibility. The game creators are human beings and they make mistakes. Further, all its stuff selling out might be because all other games are worse and/or FFG does poor job in supplying the market.

You do not work for FFG. Many of these craft topics are full of know-it-alls and things go south, which makes what should of been a reasonable discussion come off as a pack of hissing cats fighting in an alley.

Not cool gang.

Is this a love-it-or-shut-up argument?

Not at all. This is a pondering on how so much hate can be seen posted on the forums of a game that is a best seller?

I wonder how much hate has been posted online about Magic the Gathering. X-wing haters might have a lot of flaming to do to catch up...

Also: Anyone taking bets on how long before this thread gets locked? ;)

Can you point out some examples of that hate? Sure, I see worry, but not hate.

I bet this thread will not be locked.

I think Joe Boss includes all those "wave x sucks!", "nobody plays imperials anymore" , "x-wing is now the worst ship in a game with it's name" threads and maybe also that one about "if converting a model is illegal or not."...*

I might be wrong about this.

Link or it didn't happen. :P

In my book, threads like X wing has lost its way? are worry-wart threads, maybe even concern-troll threads, but they're not hate threads.

Like i said, I could be wrong about that.

I guess it's a matter of opinion really.

"Concern-trolls" LOL that's a new one for the monster manual! :D

The only sucking that can be found in X-Wing is the sound of FFG money vacuum they have attached to my wallet. My wallet can not sustain firepower of this magnitude!!!

I didn't see anyone say it sucks. I guess I'm not paying attention.
