Fitting a Phantom and a Defender in a 100 points?

Help me finish this list to be reasonably effective.

(as in; I know it will not win tournaments but I would love to NOT get slaughtered every game)

Starting point

:

Whisper (42 pts)

Veteran Instincts (1), Advanced Cloaking Device (4), fire Control System (2), Weapons Engineer (3)

Colonel Vessery (35 pts)

-> This leaves a mere 23 points. How would you spend them?

Sample list: (99 pts)

engine upgrades work great on defenders but in my (limited) experience with lone wolf it works best on either a) two ship builds (where it's easy to sty out of range 2 of each other) or b) on a flanker who stays away from your main force (and this is usually a phantom if you're running one). For me I'd swap lone wolf for predator (or outmanouver if you think you'll get the milage from it). Predator also acts like a semi-target lock so using your action to boost doesn't leave you toothless in attack

If proxies were legal, I would go with a Tempest Squadron with title and Accuracy Corrector and Veteran Instinct on Vessery.

If not, I would be tempted to go with:

Night Beast with Targetting Computer, Veteran Instinct and Engine Upgrade (or Shield Upgrade) on Vessery.

or

Heavy Laser Cannon on Vessery and a Tie Bomber.

or

Lieutenant Lorrir

Imo Vesseri is too expensive and requires the Phantom crew slot to be more unpredictable so if I were u I'd stick an HLC,VI and SD on Vesseri and grab a silly AP for blocking

and to answer the title of the thread, not the post, just came back from a store tourney, my squad :

IA helped Delta block who can joust like no other ship in the game while the other evil two were hitting&running. Very pleased with how it performs, go DELTA!

Dropped Weapons engineer on the Phantom.

Add OMG Shuttle and ST321.

and Adrenile Rush and Veteran Instincts on Vessery.

If you slow roll the shuttle you can win some matches. I do it regularly. Is it optimal? Not really but to slow down Vessery people have to gun down your shuttle first.. and if they want to do that gives this list all the time it needs to win.

Alternatively you could drop the AR and VI on Vessery and add a 2 point crew back onto the phantom.

What about this. Drop WE for RC on Whisper.

WE is crucial to make Vessery shine IMO.

Whisper gets dropped to Echo but is a bit more manoeuvrable, Vessery gets a HLC and both ships move at the same time so it'll give you the option of which to move first. Then backstabber is there as an annoying cheap flanker! All with a 1 point initiative bid.

If you're going to put a Heavy Laser Cannon on Vesseri, why don't you upgrade him to Rexler Brath? Those critical hits you don't get from the HLC become criticals thanks to his ability. Or are the free target locks you get from Vessery just too good for the points you save?

I'd not mind Rexler.

But it is hard to fit in a third ship with Rexler and Whisper....
