The chiss clawcraft is going to hit at some point. Ffg just needs to decide how it will work
Prediction time - what _will_ we see in Wave 7?
I'm calling it now:
-TIE Hunter for Imperials
-That ship on the cover of "Stay On Target" for Age of Rebellion for Rebels
-Idk for scum but whatevs
To give an idea of what TIE variants are left for Imps that are actually viable, since most of the variants are purely absurd:
(and even then the Avenger is kind of iffy)
Each X represents a ship you don't think could be introduced? Because the Scimitar Assault Bomber is a favorite of mine, and I hate to see it lumped in with stuff like the TIE Star Cruiser.
Why do you have to be hating on the TIE Star Cruiser? That's got to be the ...
...
Okay, even I can't make that quip.
Still, I don't see why the Lone Scout had to be crossed out.
The Scimitar is visually pretty silly, not to mention overly phallic.
Freud could have filled volumes' worth of notes if he'd met you. I'm with UnfairBanana at this point: you might want to look into an Introduction to Anatomy course.
There seem to be a lot of people here with obsessions over the plausible phallic shapes of spaceships. As if real-world rockets, which thrust their way into space to unload their cargo upon reaching orbit, don't have their own connotations. I say, if it's fine for NASA, it's fine for Star Wars.
And I'm not sure if Anatomy 101 will really be helpful here. This sort of Star Wars Rorhschack test demonstrates that some minds gravitate towards the phallic with only limited stimulus.
ANYWAY,
I'd be disappointed if FFG goes with XG-1 or the Missile Boat. Look, I loved the TIE Fighter game as much as anybody, but these non-TIE looking TIEs just never sat well with me. Same goes with the Defender, which I'm mean-spiritedly happy is not seeing a lot of play. I think enough is enough on those. That said, FFG does seem to cater to the people who grew up with the video games much more than they cater to those who grew up with the RPGs. (Yes, I feel discriminated against. Meh.)
So, while I would like them to do the Skipray (with both Empire and Scum pilots) - and I think it would be good for them to do a ship of that sort - I don't actually see them doing it, precisely because they are catering to the video gamers rather than the RPG players.
The Cloackshape or Otana-whatever also might be in the cards, but I would point out that I don't like 'em, and I'll be grouchy if they decide to go with those. ![]()
Still, I don't see why the Lone Scout had to be crossed out.
Suffers from "TIE with silly hat" syndrome, even if it /miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight/ work due to role.
TIE Aggressor is actually a reasonable design. Its simply an Advanced with the rear wings cut back to give a rear turret better arcs. Mechanically it would have a rear arc like the Firespray, so brings something more interesting than any other TIE variant.
Edited by All Shields ForwardFor Scum: M12 Kimogila. It's from the same range of ships as the the Scyk interceptor and it's a heavy weapons ship giving Scum a unique alternative to the Y-wing for ordnance.
If you look at some of my posts, you'd see that I would love:
TIE scout or chiss clawcraft for the imperials.
For the scum, the large turreted ship Jumpmaster 5000 (punishing one). Now before you overreact to another turret, the design of the ship means it is not 360°, so it would have a port and rear secondary arc. The ship would also have all port bearings green, but the opposite white or red. This would be a unique dial, and the ship would fly like a shark circling its prey, occasionally taking a bite.
The rebels... I have no idea, perhaps another ship that is for both scum and rebel, like the cloakshape.
Imperials: Assault Gunboat
Rebels: ??
Scum: I don´t know, but maybe YT-2000?
Imperials: Missile Gunboat
Rebels: K-Wing
Scum: Skipray Blastboat
The emphasis here is on Ordnance and fixing it. Each of these will bring different Ordnance to the party, as well as a unique 'gimmick' for each one
Gunboat: SLAM drive
K-Wing: Only Non-Epic ship with a Hardpoint
Skipray:Double crew slot
While I'm excited for anything that comes out (other than prequel ships). The one thing I really want to see is moar bounty hunters, especially Dengar. He was always my fave and his ship sucked in SWCCG. It's his time to shine!
I'm also in the Scimitar Bomber camp. I like it over the XG-1, which I think is OK. The scimitar could potentially open up a little bit of design space as a fast bomber good at a 'boom and zoom' style of attack. The XG1 could be a 20-ish point cannon carrier, which would also be good for imperials but not something we haven't seen already in the game.
Please, please, please no more YTs for the rebels, enough is enough
I'm in favor of the K wing for the rebels, possibly in conjunction with a medium base, but you could probably get it on a small base.
I'd be ok with some made up ships to fill out the rebel line up but I'd prefer if they used up most of the existing EU designs first.
Wave 7 - 4 ships as follows:
Imps = Chiss Clawcraft
Rebs = Stealth X (X-wing with a cloak mechaninc)
Scum = Large base Bounty Hunter (Bossk or 4-Lom/Zuckuss) and a Cloakshape fighter
That's my prediction/hope.
I'm predicting a four ship wave with two Scum and one Rebel/Imperial.
Shipwise, the Skipray I thought would be in Wave 5 and it works as a Scum/Empire cross ship. The TIE hunter's appeared in FFG's other material so as much as I dislike it I think it's possible. The Assault Gunboat I think could fill a role unfilled so I'm not going to count it out.
but these non-TIE looking TIEs just never sat well with me.
The Assault Gunboat's not a TIE. It's a cousin of the Lambda.
FG does seem to cater to the people who grew up with the video games much more than they cater to those who grew up with the RPGs.
Because one has graphical resources in abundance and the other... doesn't.
The chiss clawcraft is going to hit at some point.
I disagree. Anything NJO forward is out because it got overwritten. That means no StealthXs.
So, while I would like them to do the Skipray (with both Empire and Scum pilots) - and I think it would be good for them to do a ship of that sort - I don't actually see them doing it, precisely because they are catering to the video gamers rather than the RPG players.
It's had plenty of video game representation, so don't count it out just yet.
Edited by TIE PilotWe won't be getting the Hound's Tooth, at least not one that fits any current formats. That ship is 62 meters long. The Decimator is 38 meters long and about as big as they want to go with large ships. For an idea of how big the Hounds Tooth would be, it would be like adding 2 (TWO) X-Wings to the front of the Decimator.

There is actually a downsized version. It appeared in the Clone Wars, and it definitely wasn't that big.
If ... and that's a big IF ... the majority is correct, and Wave 7 will indeed feature 3 ships (1 per faction), I think my prediction is easy ...
Be prepared for a lot more wallet screams ... as any such expansion will very likely be far more expensive than we have been used to ...
Tie Aggressor
Skipray Blastboat
K-Wing
Another Blacksun ship
....
...
Maybe 1 for the Empire, 1 for the Rebels, 2 for Scum ...
Ok, I'll throw my hat in the ring. I think imperial will be assault gunboat. For reasons already stated, and I am really hoping for an ordnance fix / or new better ordnance along with it. Do you think it will be large base or small?
Next, I think we will see a 3 ship wave, 1 for each faction. I think they need to spread things out. they are having to delve pretty deep in the EU already, there just isnt that much left for the rebels.
That's it for my predictions. no idead what they will do for the rebels. everything left is pretty obscure.
Cloakshape a reasonable guess for scum, or possible a bounty hunter ship, but leaning more twoard the cloakshape.
So, pretty much what everyone else said, and for the same reasons.
I think wave 7 will be 2 Scum (1 large, 1 small), 1 Imp, and 1 Rebel, just to balance out the numbers.
Imperial:
- TIE Avenger, because it's a fan favorite and has the right look, but it seems like its role might be already filled by the Advanced or Defender. I'd rather see the Tie Aggressor with a 100 -180 degree rear arc (90 degree wont work on a small base due to the printed stats).
Scum:
- Punishing One or Hound's Tooth. These would give S&V a large turret ship, I'm leaning towards the Punishing One because it could use a Salvaged Astromech instead of a Crew, which might be interesting. I prefer the look of Hound's Tooth however.
- Mist Hunter or the Cloakshape. The issue I see with these two is that the Cloakshape seems to fit the same role as the Z95 or Scyk, and the Mist Hunter is only really know for Zucuss and 4LOM.
Rebel:
- I have no idea. T-wing maybe.

It's only 47m. That's like a Decimator + an A-Wing, it's big but it still fits a large base.
I like the idea of a bomb ace pack with a Y-Wing and a TIE/sa plus support cards and the much requested buff for ordinance. For S&V individual Y-Wings and Z95s. I don't think we really need completely new ships right now (and I don't want Rebel Zs and Ys in my Scum lists).
Wave 7 is proving difficult for me to make a guess on, I'm personally banking on the 3 small base release for the next wave though. Assault gunboat for Imperials, Scum with cloaks have, Rebels is the trickiest one as they don't have a really iconic small base ship left. Wave 8 I suspect we'll see a return to large base ships, and perhaps a switch to dual faction releases. A Scum/Imperial Skipray blast boat, the a Scum/Rebel YT 2000. I could even believe in a 7.5 or 8.5 wave of Scum versions of the the two existing CEC ships
Yeah, I'm in for a little speculation here. I think we are looking at a three ship release mainly because Scum are not sitting at 7 ships once they launch where as the Imps and Rebels at at 9 ships each. Also, as many others have pointed out, we are running into a shortage of ships in the OT time line. Due to royalty agreements and and a very robust exclusivity contract I doubt we will see anything from the Clone Wars TV show either. The prequel ships might also be out due to many reasons but mainly because at the time of the OT most of those ships would have been obsolete. Also, many of those designs would serve the exact same purpose as existing ships. We know for a fact that the FFG design team is concerned with making sure that all of the ships in the game feel useful.
Imperials: TIE Hunter is my guess. We have seen this ship pop up in some recent artwork and I wouldn't be surprised if it was announced. I think it would be a slightly cheaper version of the TIE interceptor with less attack dice but it would make up for it with shields. However, the main reason that I think the Hunter might make a logical addition to the game is that it (at least in the video games) featured torpedo launchers. If you really wanted to make ordinance useful again it would make sense to use it on a small ship that might gain the most out of having a torpedo on board.
Why not an assault boat? We already have the TIE Bomber and it doesn't that much play. With everything we know about the design philosophy of the FFG team would it make sense to just release another version of the exact same craft with slightly different stats? They have said time and time again that each ship should feel useful and unique. Also, take this into consideration; if FFG released a TIE Hunter (or whatever) with an ordinance fix then it might drive players to go and buy Bombers IN ADDITION to purchasing the new TIE Hunter (or whatever). We have already see this in effect with the recent announcement of the TIE x1 fix at my local FLGS. Once the news broke about the upgrade there was a run on all of these old ships that had been hanging on a peg since Wave 2 came out.
Rebels: Though it pains me to say it, T-Wing/H-Wing. A mid priced ship outfitted with bombs. This would also be a great ship to stick the new Loop maneuver on too. Again, I don't think we would see another heavy assault craft here. We already have B-Wings and they still see quite a bit of active play.
Scum: Mist Hunter/ G1-A Starfighter. Again, no assault boat here, the Y-Wing has just seen an update into quite a formidable ship and I don't think they will mess with that so soon out of the gate. I could see it as a small base 2 or 3 attack companion to the Hwk but with more armor and a few new tricks including a tractor beam (maybe a new illicit upgrade?). Scum have some great light ships but they are missing ships firmly in the 20-26 point range. Again, you might see an ordinance fix in the form of torpedoes but I think you might see this ship take missiles or even bombs. Whatever this ship is I think it will be the one that will further define how Scum will play.

Wookiepedia lists it at 62 meters, though I would assume starwars.com would be more accurate.
Either way, adding 25% on to the Decimator is pretty big. They have gone on record at saying the Decimator is pushing the limits for how big a large base ship is.
