Whisper was referred to in the preview article for the phantom as a "She". Other than that, II don't think we know anything.

Echo has been referred to as both a He and a She in official articles. So we know even less.

I think most players have accepted that both are female.

Whisper is a female mandalorian who's parents were killed during the uprising that took place in on mandalor when the jedi refused to help.

After that she wanted revenge

Her father was an elite pilot who worked in the security force on mandalor, and was killed while trying to save his home.

She was a natural when it came to piloting any craft thanks to her father's strict training.

She has a higher than average I.q so learning how to pilot any craft was easy for her

After the death of her parents she began plotting against the jedi and became part of death watch.

After order 66 was given and the word spread of the jedi being destroyed she was naturally drawn to the empire.

She quickly rose in the ranks and the empire used her elite pilot skills and knowledge to help design the prototype phantom

She quickly became a feared and one if the few elite female pilots within the empire

Whisper is a former miss galaxy that got annoyed when people dismissed her just because of her looks so she joined the navy and became the elite pilot we know today.

Or she could just have a really persistent case of Laryngitis.

No but they've taken characters from their rpg material and made them pilots. The ps 5 Scum Z-95 pilot Kaa'to Leeachos is from the Edge of the Empire adventure "Under a Black Sun."

Many Fans, on this board at least, insisted on drawing connections between Echo the phantom pilot and Echo the mythological figure, who was a woman.

I put "know" in quotes for a reason.

We "know" they are both female due to statements made in previews, articles, etc.

We "know" that they are human because they're imperial pilots who are part of an elite and secretive squadron running experimental technology. After all, this is the Galactic Empire we're talking about here. I doubt they'd put anything like a Phantom in the hands of a Chiss or a Twi'lek.

Ultimately we won't actually know anything until they show up in some other format, be it alt-art cards, RPG splat books, SW Rebels or Episode VII+, etc.

I agree that it makes sense they would be human as they are elite imperial pilots. then again, they did put a star destroyer fleet under the command of a chiss. I'm going with human female for whisper.

To me they look like a mixture of cardboard, ink, glue, paint, and plastic.
