X-wing is a great game

By DekoPuma, in X-Wing

It's a fantastic game.

There are a huge amount of ships and upgrades to play with. Not every list is going to win, but it's possible to incorporate any ship into a winning list with good support and skilled playing.

The community of players is fantastic. Despite a few bad apples, the overall tone is one of the friendliest of any competitive game I've played.

The rules are good, and continue to see gentle revisions to keep things balanced appropriately. The designers are passionate about the game and keep an eye on what works and what doesn't.

New ships are on the way to keep the game fresh.

We've finally got some first party support of accessories, in addition to all the third party support out there.

Each tournament season is bigger than the last with more players and more lists.

The game is flying strong.

Am I in the right place?

Wow, this is the post I was looking for. Thank you for the breath of fresh air. I love this game, and I love the depth in play it has.

I roll dice and it's like: "pew pew pew" and "kerpow! Kablooie!"

Seriously: I tell people it's like playing with the toys I had at age 8, but without the "nuh-uh"/"yuh-huh!" interchange that I had at age 8.

I tell people it's basically a Top Gun simulator but with Star Wars ships.

That way i'm catching as many genres and interests as possible.

DAT OP ... and nothing else.

:D

Well except for the special ships and terrain some of us are making and gaming with in our private collections.

:)

I'm finding that I enjoy X-Wing more than the LCG.

I think people are bitching because S&V isn't here yet and no one's got topics to talk about. My Wave 5 stuff is stuck on a same order with pre-ordered S&V and I haven't flown the new ships yet. I can't really get into those discussions.

I did play last night! There was even a guy I used to play Bolt Action with that always had the ships. He played once at a tournament that was a super big game with a ton of players and the game bogged down. He was bored with it and didn't play it since. That was 2 years ago. Last night, he finally showed up and broke out his X-wing ships. We played 2 games as I tried to teach him the game again. The first one, he just rolled so bad he died within 5 turns. The 2nd game was a lot closer, but I won. I should've let him win, but I forgot. doh! He had fun.

I like X-wing it is simple enough to understand in a sitting. But it is deep enough to suport longterm compettative play. And yet it is at its best when you play with friends. And it has helped me expand my social circle.

Great game! Simple to teach and learn with tons of depth!
