Was the Haarlock Dynasty based on Leiji Matsumoto's Captain Harlock?

By Vulkan He''stan, in Dark Heresy

Captain Harlock is a military man turned space pirate in a very dark space opera setting. There's the name, of course. The Haarlock Dynasty were people who were both military people and pirates in a dark space opera setting. Considering how GW and it's licensees have lifted from many different sources, it seems likely. What do you all think?

I thought the same based upon name alone

Absolutely. Check

More important: is named Series ("Harlock") worth having a look? I had in hand once in a while as a rent DVD, but it seemed "old fashioned manga" to me. Which means "worth then captain future"

A little seachring here and there, and I am able to answer my self.

The Trailer looks like it would be worth the dime :)

Thanks for pointing at Harlock! I already forgot over the titel

Yes, it is worth watching it. The animation may be old school, but the stories are solid and the characters compelling.

*DING*

Finally its clicked where Harlock came from, I used to watch this show after school in the afternoons. It's been nagging the absolute crap out of me where the name was lifted from and couldn't remember....
