Lynnwood, WA -- March 1st Store Championship at Around the Table

By RTTGamePub, in X-Wing Organized Play

Yeah, so we got a cease and desist from Round Table Pizza.

Now we are legally known as Around the Table.

Around the Table is hosting its 2nd Annual X-Wing Store Championship at 1pm on the 1st of March, which just so happens to be the first (Sun)day of the month. Mark your calenders so you don't forget!

This tournament will have a $10 entry fee, and that includes a free non-alcoholic beverage. Yes, we love our beer here, but we also want our players to stay hydrated. The whole competition will follow standard X-wing Tournament rules with a Swiss structure, probably coming out to 4 or 5 rounds depending on turnout.

The whole Puget Sound area seems to have gotten its act together and is coordinating so that none of these championships have scheduling conflicts, so we are expecting a good crowd. What does this mean to you, citizen?

It means that we will likely have more prizes than just that lil' ol' 2015 Championship kit, with its glittery dice bags, promo cards, wicked cool focus tokens and the regional tournament Bye. Once we have more than 8 entrants, all sorts of other stuff will be thrown in to the prize pool including a bunch of items we may have snagged from ThinkGeek.

So! Hopefully we'll see you soon.

So, after coming to our senses, we decided we are going to take pre-registrations after all. We are maxing our our guaranteed spots at 24, and will take walk-ins on a case by case basis.

We are currently at 11, which means we will definitely have a pretty interesting expanded prize pool beyond the standard promo stuff. Wicked!

The event will start at 1pm sharp; after this we will start taking walk-ins for spots still available.

To pre-register, give us a call, add yourself to our facebook event or shoot us an email at [email protected] .

What round length do you plan on going with?

I'm going! I can't wait to get destroyed.

What round length do you plan on going with?

They said last night the plan was going to be for 65-minute rounds.

I wish they would have picked noon to start. <_<

I'll be there. I entered on facebook.

Update: Trying to make the tournament the most fun to the most people, so I think we are going to shoot for a 4 round-swiss with a Top 4 Cut Off which at that point will add 2 additional rounds for those top 4 players. Players will begin playing no later than 1:20pm, and the cut-off should occur at around 6:20pm. At that point we'll take a vote, but I'm pretty sure that the cut-off would be a good time to break for dinner for the players continuing on, which gives us time to give out prizes to the rest of the participants. When the tournament starts, I'll be randomly allotting our pool of extra prizes to players; at the cut-off the players who are leaving will find out if they won any of them!

Top players will be finished no later than 9:20pm. This is a long one guys!

The rough plan is 65 minute rounds, 10 minute breaks for most rounds, 5 minutes prep once the pairings are made, and a 20 minute break when a round ends in the 5 or 6PM-ish area so people can grab a bite, get some R&R time in the bathroom, etc..

In regards to starting earlier, I would have liked to but a couple things complicated that.

Sunday is always iffy in the early afternoon because people attend church, so on the customer side we decided to start as early as possible while also giving some time for attendance of those services.

On the store side, we are going to completely retool the front so that it is as X-Wing friendly as possible, so having two hours to open, clean and prep and get people here on time seemed like the best plan! You are always free to come early and get a prep game in.

See you here guys!

Wish I could go, best of luck everyone who can!

Would love to see lists that were entered and any write-ups on how this went! Wanted to make it, but I've been so busy!
