Seattle/Puget Sound/Western Washington Organized Play Master List

By Earthworm, in X-Wing Organized Play

Continuing to add new information. Tournament Nov 21 in Lynden.

December 12th Tournament in Olympia

January-February Tuesday League in Olympia

New informal play Monday evenings in Bremerton.

Added new store in Lake Stevens with weekly regular play and an upcoming tournament.

I asked about Wednesday night games in the Puget Sound Star Wars Minis group. Richard Li commented that there's no more X-Wing at Game Guru.

I'll be going to Meeples tonight to check it out. I hear there's 5-10 nightly.

I saw that discussion and made the edit. Thanks.

Meeples was great! Had 6 or 8 players there, played two games myself against skilled opponents. They close at 10pm.

I'm not sure how you have our schedule before I write it, but can confirm these dates for Games & Gizmos. We try to run our tournament every third Saturday unless some other event breaks up our plan (looking at you, Magic).

Oh and thanks for writing this up, I never get to play in my own events and this has been helpful making a few other stores' events.

I got the dates from one of three ways. You can pick the story you like best:

1. I extrapolated third Saturdays

2. Your store Google calendar (may be confusing you with Meeples for that story)

3. I landed a HWK-290 on your roof and went in through the ductwork with a blaster and a stolen plasma welder to obtain secrets of the Dark Trooper/Monthly Tournament.

I've noted which stores have Store championships, and I'll be updating with dates as they become available. Do we want a separate thread like we had last year (to discuss results, etc.) or do we just want to roll all that into this thread?

Congrats to Heroic Knight Games in Issaquah for being the first to schedule and advertise their Store Championships! It's already on my calendar (though with iCal, my wife can delete it whenever she wants, so we'll see).

Put game matrix store champion ship down for 3/19 10 am registration start at 11 sharp. $10

My 7 year old was watching me type in the Game Matrix info, and asked what I was doing. I told him that I kept a calendar of all the tournaments in the area and he responded, "Wow, you must be really important"

I knew this would be my avenue to fame.

I am sure that was far easier than explaining how he lives on and island that's doesn't exist!

Phoenix Comics will be hosting a Star Wars X-Wing Miniatures Tournament on Saturday, January 30th at 11 A.M.

The tournament format is Standard 100 Point Dogfight. FFG official tournament rules and guidelines will be followed.
Entry fee is $5. Pre-registration will be available on the store website prior to the event ( http://phoenixseattle.com/ ). You may also register day-of in the store, but due to limited space and time, there will be a hard cap of 16 players total.
Prizes will be awarded out of the FFG Winter Tournament Kit (Alt art Gunner upgrade cards participation prize, acrylic Extra Munitions tokens, Millennium Falcon dice bags, alt art Darth Vader pilot cards, and a Slave 1 medal). Additional prizes in the form of store credit will be available depending on number of entries. A special "Judge's Prize" will be provided and awarded by the Tournament Organizer, regardless of the number of entries
Also, it's worth noting that the Phoenix Comics is regularly getting 6 to 8 players every week now, and sometimes 10+. The group has really grown! Could someone update that mention of our player count in the OP?

I've updated the top of the list with the store championships that are upcoming. So far we've got dates for:

Uncle's (Tacoma)

Heroic Knight

Meeples

MOB

Uncles (Redmond)

Dark Tower

Game Matrix

We are still awaiting scheduling for

Round the Table

Discordia

Card Kingdom

Games and Gizmos

Fantasium

Gabi's

My updating will be a bit limited in the coming week or two as I'm using all my play time getting the Vassal League up and running. There's still time to join that, too!

Mox Boarding House in Bellevue is doing theirs this weekend, January 10th. When I called Card Kingdom in Ballard, they said they were doing theirs on February 13, but I don't know if that might be subject to change.

Hey Earthworm,

Thanks for adding Meeples info. I run the monthly tournaments at that store and have an update. The Feb 28th event with be a Store Championship event. You can pre-register at the store beforehand. Since we expect a large turnout the doors will open at 9AM for checkin and registration with a start time of 10AM.

(Note the date was changed from the 7th, which is super-bole Sunday, go HALKS!!!)

Thanks !!

Added a team furball event at Blue Sky in Bremerton on Feb 13.

So, it turns out what was advertised as a Store Championship at Mox Boarding House in Bellevue today turned out to actually be a Winter Tournament Kit event. Only six players showed up. *sigh* . It looks like Mox Boarding House was never a Store Championship location for X-Wing to begin with, though Card Kingdom in Ballard still will be.

Added info for Store championships in Redmond and Olympia (The Gabi's/Olympia data isn't on their website yet and so is "unconfirmed," but my people tell me it is so, and my people are good people, so there...)

Please allow me to lament the uncoordination among the stores- a couple of phone calls or a google chat could have prevented the overlapping we're seeing now- I went to both Games and Gizmos and Game Matrix last year, and now can go to only one. Sad. Same for Gabi's and MOB.

Store owners, next year please let us help connect you together and make as many opportunities for glory as possible!

Posted info for the first ever X-Wing Store Championships in Kitsap County!

Discordia is seriously starting theirs at 6? Does Thomas know he's required to do a cut?

An attempt was certainly made. A Store Championship Master File that was a Google Doc was created and distributed across all the major local Facebook groups. In fact i think things are MORE coordinated this year than in years past because of this Doc. Since each game was on a separate Tab though I have noticed some unfortunate overlap of Armada and X-Wing events. Lesson learned for next year.

I tried to explain that to Game Matrix, but unfortunately it seems that as soon as the decision was made on the date, it was set in stone. It's too bad. It's good for the players that want to win range rulers I suppose, but for those of us who just want to make as many Store Championships in the Puget sound area to get out and meet more players in the region, it's a disappointment to see weekend days with no championships, and other with three going on in the same day.
