FFG will be producing 2 official X-Wing play mats, one with the Death Star and Yavin IV, the other a starfield. Both will be combinable to create a 3x6 for epic play. ( methinks or Armada possibly??)

What do you guys think? I like that there is an official option if its up to FFG's usual standards, but also think the Death Star is so iconic I wouldnt want to use that image all the time.. would prefer a nice nebula option perhaps, but the generic starfield is good - if maybe a little plain though, but its a hard act to balance because you would want a plain side if you had the death star on the other side. :)

I like the idea, better than the tiles they were making. I still can't help but think that they are a little late to the game so to speak. Not that I won't get one......

Price point looks to be $40USD

I like the starfield, it's just hard to justify spending the cash on nice mats when the felt crap pad I have does a passable job, and saves the money for more spaceships.

Yeah, I just use a marked off area on a larger felt tablecloth for most of my battles - I dunno about anyone else but I hate mats that are "too" busy - like the GF9 ones, Hurts my eyes just looking at them :P

Kind of expensive. $80 for an Armada sized area....i'll pass. They do look nice though.

Whoa, nice find Mavs.

You really think so Extropia? I've been 'thinking' about getting a playmat - saw a nice 36" x 36" one from Quiver Gaming Gear. Don't know how much it is though.

Still these FFG ones a cheaper option than the F.A.T mat Obergrot linked us to at 59 Pounds though?

Edit:

Getting difficult to keep track of the separate thread conversations about Gaming Mats. Maybe a Mod could combine the threads and sticky it somewhere? Maybe even create a dedicated Gaming Mat thread for everyone to add to? ;)

Oh they are....for the material they aren't overpriced , just a bit more than i'd like. I'm quite happy with a cloth one really....probably going to get mine from Deepcut Studio for about £36, and they are extremely nice in the flesh.

You have a game mat made out of flesh????

If your a chaos player your certainly getting into the theme of it
