Two Pilots Sharing One upgrade Card?

By santange11, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Hello All,

I tried to find a topic like this in the forum and didn't see anything. In tournament play can I use one upgrade card for two ships, currently the local stores are out pf the ships that have it.

Per tournament rules, you must have all the components necessary for your squad, including individual copies of ship/upgrade cards used.

Above post is correct. However, if you are only playing friendly games, it isn't a peoblem. Certain upgrades are scarce, like Adv. Sensors was prior to wave 4, so I can understand the need to share upgrades.

I provide all components for my playgroup, so occasionally we run out of something, especially if we have two games going on at once. Shield upgrades are always in high demand.

Recently, I wrote a simple squad manager app thing to use on my Surface, so I no longer need cards unless Im in a tournament, and it helps a ton. Unlimited, digital proxies! Huzzah!

I think you should be able to, we do it.

Stores won't allow it cuz is sells ships, $15 per need card if if you don't need a second ship

During casual play, sure thing. You could even just scribble the upgrade on a piece of paper as much as I'm concered.

For tournament play, if you are missing a card then I suggest asking your play group if you could borrow it for the session. I've lent cards to people that I know in the past for the sake of tournaments and it's no biggie.

i rent cards and ships to folks... 15 bucks a day..lol ;)

As most people have extensive collections someone will normally have a spare. I'm not a huge stickler for the rules and don't mind playing someone

Who doesn't have all the cards. But officially you do need the individual cards for a tournament.

Fun play? Sure. Go ahead and proxy cards as you wish.

Tournaments? Nope, not allowed to share cards as Buhallin noted. It can be misleading to opponents if it's not clear what cards are on what ships.

Just make sure you have a dummy card or something to represent it, so your opponent can easily identify what each ship has equipped.

FFG has a habit of releasing very desirable cards to single ships. It makes perfect business sense, just a tad irritating.

Now there are places online that sell solo cards, but the cards that only make an appearance from a single ship are typically hard to find and/or pricey.

Millennium Falcon expansion being the biggest offender.
