Just recieved word that management has placed down an all in offer and is preparing for a lockout if it's not accepted...the union is trying to convince it's members to stay at the table...looking like the slowdown MIGHT end soon. Can't access this site from work computer but I have the press releases...I'll try to post them here when I get home.
West coast port issues update
Much appreciated. Let us know when you can!
sounds like it MIGHT end... or it might get a lot worse.

Exactly what I thought when I read that....Guess we'll see

Trying to keep it positive for you guys...even though I have no desire to ever see scum.
Based on the press release I skimmed this slowdown is illegal based on the contract the workers are currently operating under...I'll post the press releases when I get home...
They were eye opening.
My lord, is that leeee-gal?
My lord, is that leeee-gal?
I will make it legal.
I wonder how much more it would cost to send the shipments via air freight?

Alot. Air is significantly more expensive than sea...air is usually only used for expediting. Keep in mind these are huge quantities of product...many shipping containers full. You can't cheapo move that much product around via air.

It may seem expensive, but remember that X-Wing players are basically junkies jonesing for a fix right now.I wonder how much more it would cost to send the shipments via air freight?

Are they willing to pay the substantial increase in cost en masse? I don't think so...air can cost upwards of 3 to 5 times what what sea does, even more than that in some cases. You would be paying $25 as a guess for a small base ship...I can't see the general public paying that (these numbers are guesstimates). Me thinks your jonseing for a fix is affecting your better judgment. Get some methadone!! ;-)
Two hundred for a Starviper would be a little much.

Better judgement... so having some fellas roll down to the docks with lightsabers to crack heads; guess thats out too... dammit!
Ya know... the more I think about it, the whole union dock fiasco and it's affect on the miniature gaming world would make a great plot for a Big Bang Theory episode...
I just talked with one of my suppliers out in Alberta who said that waiting 2+ months for a container in either Washington or British Columbia to get unloaded is pretty normal for her right now. Sometimes a bit faster, sometimes a bit slower. But always frustrating.
Beyond that, I used to work for Lufthansa and the booking team for Lufthansa Cargo worked about 20-feet away from me. Believe me, there's no way that any of this product would go by air unless we're basically willing to more than double or triple the cost of the blister packs. $50 TIE fighters anyone? $100 Shuttles? Oh wait, some of you may actually be willing to pay $100 if you could get a Falcon. ![]()

Or a hilarious road trip adventure movie about a few nerds just looking to get the next expansions of their favorite games. Massive cliches ensue.

I can see it in my head now, a bunch of geeks and nerds storming in and busting up a union. Brings a smile to my face.

Fanboys 2; I'm in, now we just need someone on the west coast with a seafaring vessel and a background in piracy ![]()

The problem being, of course, figuring out which heads to crack. Like any big contract dispute, you have two parties who are each trying to pull just a few more concessions out of the other, and both posturing publicly as the victims in hopes the other group will end up with a bigger share of the blame for any negative consequences.

I have no idea what the cost difference would look like, or even if there are manufacturers here with the capacity to do the work--but I wonder if FFG could ever be persuaded to move their production to the US. It's probably more expensive than manufacturing in China and then shipping worldwide, but there have been so many delays...
Edited by Vorpal SwordWhich is par for course for ALL of FFG's games. Seriously, the LCG gets hit with worse delays than this game has been the past year.
At this point the back-up is probably long enough that even a restoration of full speed work wouldn't really get them here soon.
And remember it isn't $80 for a starviper. It's $80 for autothrusters. 100% worth it.
