So I played a game on vassal last night and wanted to get back to the roots of why I started playing. X-wings. I brought:
2 Red sq - flechette torps & r2 mech
2 Gold sq - ion cannon turret & r2 mech
So my damage was from the X's and control from the Y's. I faced a Jonas bro's list -
Jonas - flechettes
4 Scimitar Sq - flechette torps & failsafe
Seemed to take an hour to get into combat, but I was trying to draw him into the rocks laid corner-to-corner across the middle of the map. I somewhat succeeded in this, but I was the one who took damage on the rocks, with bad flying. I managed to ion Jonas 3 straight turns and lead him onto a rock, but he didn't take damage landing on it or leaving...At the end of the game when we called it I had the Gold's left on 4 hull and full up. He had Jonas on 2 hp, and 2 scimitars on 4&5 hp respectively. It would have been me flying donuts around rocks ioning bombers for another hour if we wanted to finish.
I like the list, but it lacked punch once the X's were gone. I'm going to try a different list I haven't tried yet tomorrow when I got to my FLGS to play some games.
2 Daggers - ion cannons, E2, tactician
2 Proto's - proton rockets
Hopefully I fly well and my proto's show up to rocket people once my B's start ion/stressing ships. That will be a nice alpha strike. I like the ion cannon on the B as well cuz if I'm at range 3 I still get a 3 dice attack. One nice advantage over the Y-wing (even though the Y has a turret...)
