I started off with one, then made another, and another...until I landed with this final design! I took some insperation from others I had seen online, and mixed it with some Ideas of my own. My main focus was to have smaller trays that could sit on the table and be passed around for convience. For example: the tray with all the tokens in it...or the one with the cards. Also I wanted to include room for expansions (xtra space for figures and cards).

I wanted trays on the table. The regular box just takes up so much space, so I made smaller ones that could be passed around as needed (IE: the money tray is great to pass around and get your own money when your turn is up).

I'm debating this. My problem is a fair price (Not much in materials but it took a long, long time to assemble), and shipping. I'm not sure if I can trust it to get there intact, Anyone have any experience on this? Because I would love to offer the service.

A) Any Art store...hobby lobby, I get mine from a local shop bout $5 a sheet

B) There are a few right angle hobby knifes out there (I went with the X-acto brand one, Works like a dream) also get a nice ruler and a T-square.

C) Dealers choice. I just Glue it all together (bought a generic super glue from my local art shop). I've thought about the tab approach but That would just be so much extra work that I ruled it out right away.

Other than that..design is at your disgression. Just get creative w/ it and see what happens. Like I said before...I made one, scrapped it, made another, scrapped it too til I got the right one.

ProTip: Always dry fit the bases in the box, before you glue anything down. I just went off my measurements the first time and got one all glued up and it didn't fit in the box.

Good questions. They've been well-answered already, but I just want to offer some big encouragement: You can do this! I have never done anything like this before, but on Monday afternoon this week I went to Michael's Craft Store and bought everything I needed ($35 total, probably could've gone less expensive), and then worked my way through it. I wasn't happy with my first design, so I scrapped it part-way through and made a second one with the knowledge that I gained from the first attempt. The result is that I am VERY happy with what I've got!

Basic rules of craftsmanship apply:

--measure twice, cut once

--dry fit before gluing

--be patient, because you can't rush quality

--have a basic plan in mind, but be ready to make adjustments as you go

--etc.

Essentially, I just want to encourage you to give this a try for yourself. I have never done this before, and I've produced a product that I couldn't be happier with.

This was all of the training/experience that I had going in, and it was all that I needed. Oh, and one more thing: I had Star Wars: A New Hope playing on my tv in the background...definitely a good thing!

Great Job! I like the modular design allowing you to pass around the tokens and cards. I also can relate as to how long it takes to put one of these together.

I may give this a shot. I normally use tackle boxes or beads boxes for tokens and counters and make sure they fit inside the base box. (I have two in there right now, one for counters, and another for the models). But I think in this case, I want a bit more separation of my cards and tiles to speed up set up.

Maybe I'll post pics of my insert at some point, because I use a single tackle box to hold all of the tokens, and I found a cool way of incorporating it into my insert.

I would like to see that, I like my current beads box for sorting tokens. But would still like to sort things out a bit more. I saw on person using color rubber bands for the map tiles, I stole that idea.
