Those are beautiful and I love them.
That said, doesn't Fantasy Flight sell decks of these for like $5 US?
They do, but there are some that they have not done - these two above are some examples.
I’m wondering if maybe the reason why they haven’t done these is because FFG is afraid that yours are better. ![]()
LOL. Thanks Brad ![]()
LOL. Thanks Brad
Okay, so I just printed these two on my color laser printer. And …
Holy crap! I think these actually ARE better than the FFG cards! No joke!
Maybe we need to force them to hire you, too. ![]()
Looking at these again, I think the only improvement I’d suggest is that the white text on the brushed steel texture at the bottom is hard to read at smaller sizes like this.
If the text were in a box with a white background and a black edge around the background, and the brushed steel texture was a border around that, I think that would improve the readability. It wouldn’t look quite so cool from a graphic design perspective, but I think it would be more readable when they are printed off at standard 2.5” x 3.5” sizes.
I have and love the FFG cards, but I'm certainly open to having more available. I will add my voice to brad's that the white text is a bit hard to make out on the brushed steel background (streaks of white). The FFG cards have a blended light background where they have black text that is pretty clear. Your steel background actually shades from medium dark to light in the area where the text is placed. Up in the top left, it's much more clear (especially since that text is bold) but down on the bottom right it's a bit squint worthy.
Make you a deal: you do your usual awesome job on this, and I'll have my print people at my local UPS Store print an extra set of whatever you come up with on nice heavy 80lb card stock and mail it to you. ![]()
Done! I'll get the basics right first re visuals. I have an idea of what to do, but I'm at work right now. I'll give it another chop over the weekend.
As for being employed by FFG...Freelance would be fine ![]()
Or, we could print them at http://www.makeplayingcards.com/design/custom-blank-card.html
Then they really would be better than the FFG cards. ![]()
I’ll offer the same deal here as the Admiral — he’s welcome to use whatever printing services he wants, and I’ll be happy to try out makeplayingcards.com for mine — and I’ll send you a free set.
[ EDIT: Give credit where credit is due — many, many thanks to sparker, and his post at http://community.fantasyflightgames.com/index.php?/topic/132744-a-few-new-eote-tools/#entry1416709 ]
Edited by bradknowlesfyi someone in the resources thread has a complete set - onslaught at arda 1 available. if you don't want to duplicate work already done. Yours are nicer.

That was the set Salith was working on, right? I knew his copy of the book had arrived, but I hadn’t heard that he’d finished doing up the latest edition of cards.
Cool!
Hmm. The link from Salith at http://www.filedropper.com/swcards25x3520141231 still seems to be the same one from last year, and the cards there are the same.
Does he have a new link that is not yet in the Compiled Resources thread?
Please post link so I don't have to reinvent the wheel ![]()

I'd forgotten about that site. Definitely would be better then having to cut out the cards after printing. If their quality is good, and I've no reason to think otherwise, this is a better solution for cards.
So, I printed these off, both at 100% one-per-page, and at a slightly reduced size to fit into a nine-per-page layout. Everybody loved them!
We did agree that the white text on the brushed steel background was hard to read, but that was the only criticism from anyone.
Everybody seems to be really stoked that the community is putting out so many high quality fan-made supplements now!
I can’t wait to get my finished set from makeplayingcards.com!

yes on the last page.
yes on the last page.
The latest post I see from him on that thread is at http://community.fantasyflightgames.com/index.php?/topic/85616-compiled-resources-list/page-19#entry1386960 and that is dated Posted 30 December 2014 - 08:25 PM, and leads to the same URL that I had posted before — namely, http://www.filedropper.com/swcards25x3520141231
Those are the ones that do not (yet) include the content from OaA.
Is there a different post from Salith that I’m not seeing on that thread? Can you give me a direct URL to that post?
The ones I downloaded have all but OaA. the post i got them from says as much. and do include everything but OaA. I printed out a set.
That is the one. and that is the one I used to print out a nearly full set of cards. though not it is missing stay on target and lords of nal hutta as well.

Well, I already bought and sent OaA to him, so you’re welcome to do SoT or LoNH. ![]()
OK, as promised, here is version 2 of the same cards. Let me know if you think it improves the image.

and:

I also got rid of the card edge as I wasn't sure what sort of bleed that the card printers require.
Edited by GM HoolyExcellent. That makes them eminently readable while retaining the original cool look.
If I may be so bold as to suggest: make up about a dozen and post them. Then we can do a small-ish test print at http://www.makeplayingcards.com.
Also of note, doing them through those people allows for a custom back image... ![]()
Edit: in the spirit of being helpful:
"Bleeding: Please allow 1/8" (approx 36 pixels based on a 300dpi image) for bleeding and a further 1/8" for safe area margin inside each side."
Poker size template is http://www.makeplayingcards.com/dl/templates/poker-size.pdf
They also have templates for other sizes and in different formats (like .psd).
